Once set up, there’s a lot to like here. The B535 WebBox can get up to 64 devices online at once, which ismore than most people should need. It’s also a match for the Three 4G Hub, the Three 5G Hub, and the likes of the 4GEE Home Router 2, as well as topping the Vodafone GigaCube 4G. In theory, the modem of the Huawei B535 LTE router can reach speeds of up to 300 Mbit/s in the downlink and up to 100 Mbit/s in the uplink (LTE Cat7). Almost all frequency bands important for Europe are supported, as the following list shows. Only the band 32 (1,500 MHz) cannot be used by the router, but there are no restrictions. Huawei does not provide any information about the possible CA combinations. The Huawei B535 does not have a WLAN extender function, i.e. the use of an existing WLAN as Internet access. There is also no WLAN timer. However, I am also now very much of the view that the B535 is pretty poor, to say the least. (It is clearly possible that it is at least part of the problem.) Although the older B315 that I was using did what I needed to, it was clearly a mistake to blithely assume that the B535 would be ok and an improvement. So, in parallel with trying to make progress with the IPv4 problem, I’m also going to more seriously look at one or two other options, including the Mikrotik Chateau LTE12 and perhaps also their new ATL LTE18 external antenna with inbuilt router. I’ll probably start a separate thread with question on this shortly …. There is indeed the ability to load balance across ADSL (Plusnet) and 4G (via Huawei), using the USG's two WAN ports. Hence the need to connect the USG to the B535 -- which is what refuses to work ....

We’ve mentioned three of the main alternatives elsewhere in this review – the Three 5G Hub, the Three 4G Hub, and the 4GEE Home Router 2. The first of those is only worth considering if you can get a 5G signal, while the other two tie you to Three and EE respectively.

Specifications

The Huawei B535 WebBox isn’t much to look at, but that’s not a criticism, as most people don’t want a flashy router.

All things considered, the Huawei B535 is a very solid 4G home broadband router. If that’s all you’re after then it’s competitive with devices from EE and Vodafone, but no match for the new Three 4G Hub. It’s one of two 4G home broadband devices available from the network at the time of writing, but with the other (the Huawei AI Cube) also being a smart speaker, this will likely be the default device for many buyers. The Huawei B535 4G Router 3 Pro also offers the option of connecting an external cellular antenna. The effect of a 4G LTE outdoor antenna was not tested separately in the test. If the external antenna is not automatically recognized, you can manually switch to the external antenna in the web interface. Unfortunately, this is of little practical value here, because (a) the 4G aerial and B535 are in a different building; and (b) the load balancing can only be done via the USG. And the ADSL service is not great ....Buy the B535-333 4G Router to easily create a 4G Internet service for multiple PC’s with high speed 4G connectivity. The Huawei B535 WebBox / Huawei HomeFi Plus is one of the very best 4G routers available and arguably the best sold by a UK network at the time of writing. In terms of LTE speeds, the Huawei B535 was able to convince in the test. Although the device was tested in the test with unlimited SIM cards from Vodafone, it was far from the theoretical maximum, but with well over 150 Mbit/s in the downlink and up to 70 Mbit/s in the uplink, you can do a good life. We also take a comparison test with the Netgear Nighthawk M2 Router and it shows that the network theoretically enables even higher speeds.

So that the maximum LTE speed also reaches the connected end devices, a fast WLAN module is of course required. The Huawei B535 supports WLAN ac at 2.4 GHz with up to 300 Mbit/s and at 5 GHz with up to 867 Mbit/s. In the test, the 867 Mbit/s could also be reached up to 5 meters by line of sight. The Three 5G Hub is sure to be more expensive, but there you’re getting even higher speeds if you have the coverage. Conclusion As soon as a wall came between the router and the end device, the data rate dropped noticeably. Fast surfing and video streaming was also about 10 meters away from the router and was still possible without problems after two walls. The Wi-Fi range of the Huawei B535 was convincing in the test!If you already had a few LTE routers in hand, the first thing you notice about the Huawei B535 is the comparatively flat design. The body of Huawei 4G Router 3 Pro is made of gray and white plasti and visually unobtrusive. Various LEDs are located on the front, which indicate the operating status. For example, the reception strength is signaled using five bars. There are also LEDs for power, internet, WLAN and LAN. With slight caveats (see below), an iPad connected directly to the B535's wifi (not via the USG) does have internet connectivity.
