The upper has been played with a little but mostly in terms of comfort rather than structural integrity. The twin layer of mesh feels just a tad firmer so it ‘gives’ a little less. Whether or not this is a good thing will be up to the individual runner. It’s also been made more breathable – and we had a couple of heavier runners reporting that their feet were a lot less hot than usual by the end of a run. The upper is now also seamless, so any points of potential rubbing or irritation have been removed. Small quibbles Asics GT-2000 9 is produced according to different technologies to ensure stability by fixing the movement of your feet during running. The stability is controlled by two main elements, the Dynamic DuoMax and Trusstic system.

I struggled with the feel of the midsole. They were stiff and provided minimal energy return. I thought it was a breaking-in period, but after 75 miles they still feel rigid and unforgiving.

SUITED FOR:

Wearing a brand new GT-1000 10 on one foot and the GT-2000 10 on the other, I felt more padding below the 1000. I honestly cannot tell you why; when I examine the insoles, the 2000’s is spongier. The 1000 also felt 2-3 mm higher (whichever foot wore it) despite specs listing it to be 1 mm. lower. The 10 conforms more to my foot than I believe the old mesh design would, and this is necessary (for my foot) given the snugged-up forefoot fit in the new model. The pressure relaxed just enough to keep me wearing the shoe post run by about 50 miles in. Time was when stability shoes meant sacrificing zip. But with the advance of material technology, this doesn’t have to be the case. Sometimes things just line up right and the Asics 2000 GTX has become my go to shoe for the trail this winter.

The tongue (the part beneath the laces) has enough padding to protect you against the laces when they are tightened. The GT 2000 GTX is billed as a hybrid all purpose shoe but upon first glance it looks as though it’s designed exclusively for the trail. The outsoles of the 7 and the 10 align pretty well, but the 10 is slightly more pointed and longer, about ¼-size longer than the shoe has been traditionally. It works in partnership with the Guidance Trusstic System located on the bottom of the shoe in the midfoot area. This is a lightweight hard plastic plate that provides torsional rigidity. But how does a running shoe that has been around for three decades stay up-to-date and remain a popular choice among many runners? The stability of the ASICS GT 2000 9 is provided by their Dynamic DuoMax. It is a dual density foam found on the medial side of the foot. It is basically their version of a medial post. Updated with a one-piece upper construction for an improved fit, the ninth incarnation of the GT-2000™ running shoe secures the top of the foot with a lightweight design and soft comfort.

The fit of the shoe met my expectations for an ASICS trainer. A snug feeling was felt throughout the shoe, especially in the midfoot area. Over the years the 2000 has gotten lighter and more streamlined, but I really believe has maintained its quality function—even in this latest go-round with a sole that no longer carries what used to be standard for ASICS stability.

The GT 2000 9 will allow your feet to breathe in comfort! The softer mesh upper provides for plenty of ventilation, especially in the heat of the day during those longer runs.

I believe there would be a difference if you installed some Flytefoam Propel into the midsole. My expectations for midsole experience were high, I was disappointed when the GT 2000 9s didn’t hit them.A structured upper is what you are going to feel in the ASICS 2000 9. One aspect of the structure is the clutching system found in the heel. This helps provide a secure fit. For 2013 Asics has decided to reboot their franchise GT series shoe and start again with modern design ideas while aiming to retain the fit and ride that thousands of runners have enjoyed for nearly two decades. The outsole and midsole of the GT 2000 9 is built to last, showing minimal wear after 75 miles. ASICS uses the proven trusstic system and Dynamic DuoMax combination in the midsole resulting in stability mile after mile.
