It was quite a treat to find two more books were planned as I very much enjoyed the characters and plot.

I am so excited to see what happens to these adoring characters and I am hoping the series finishes on a bang but a nice bang if that is possible. I live in London but rent a cottage in Hampshire, which is where I bolt to when I can no longer take the pace of the city and need to spend time in nature to find peace. I didn't really like the ending, it was too much destiny for me, and the epilogue was just random in my opinion. However, Montefiore does devote time in the Daughters of Castle Deverill in keeping her readers up to speed on her characters and their lives, which enables the book to also be read as a standalone novel.

S. - then was sad to see that the library didn't get the sequel (UK author) - so I bought it here and LOVED this book, I will be donating to our library when I'm done! To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. She has seeped her series deep in rich Irish history, she delivers a strong sense of place and presents the reader with a rich cast of main, as well as supporting characters. It's a touch of Downton Abbey along with rural hard living families spanning a time period of 1925 to 1938 (book 2). So much angst over love, unrequited love, adulterous love, jealousy over misunderstandings that could easily be cleared up with a conversation, shady business dealings involving South African diamonds, and half hearted revenge plots x 2.She knows she must speak to the current Lord Deverill – JP – if she is to uncover the secrets of the past. I was sorry to reach the end of The Daughters of Castle Deverill, as I now have to wait for the third and final chapter in the series. It lacks the intimacy of the first book, and the feisty characters I'd loved first time round have now become two-dimensional and irritating.

We pick up the story of Bridie Doyle, Kitty Deverill and Celia Deverill Mayberry, their paths going different ways but eventually crossing back again. The part played by "The Shrubs" in this book ( sorry, but I don't want to spoil this treat for you by telling you what they are), was a touch of genius. There is only one negative comment I can possibly make, and that is that I have to wait until next year for part three. This is not intended to be a full statement of all your rights under the Distance Selling Regulations. The characters I fell in love with in the first book all grew in personality and there were several new additions, an eclectic bunch that I would never in my wildest dreams have thought had a place in this story, but they just added to the wow factor that this book delivers. There's nothing better than sinking into a novel and empathising with the characters as they journey through the novel, experiencing both ups and downs.
