Once again, No Ultramarines? Well, that’s kinda smart because technically both this box and the box above can be used by any Space Marine Faction. Though the individual characters and the Chapter Specific Upgrades spure here, slightly deter anyone looking to simply bolster another Space Marine force on a budget.

The Tyranids aren’t terribly bothered by the exact state of galactic geopolitics at present – they just like a ready supply of tasty biomass, and a space hulk to ride around in. Their Boarding Patrol contains six adaptable Tyranid Warriors to split into squads of three, eight fast-moving Genestealers , and a fearsome Broodlord to direct them all. This is an interesting move by GW, as the boxes are made specifically for the new game format. We’ll have to see pricing on these, but if they price them right, it could be a decent way to start up a new force and get to playing some boarding action games all in one go. Night Scythe (supplied with a Citadel Large Oval Base, can alternately be assembled as a Doom Scythe)If you are new to Battleforce boxes let me start with a warning you should probably heed. they sell out. FAST! FOMO is naturally true with these boxes. It’s always been the case and I expect the same to be true this year.

Four brand-new boxes stuffed with Space Marines are coming to a Warhammer store near you very soon, featuring the Iron Hands, Salamanders, White Scars, and Ultramarines. Let’s have a look at what’s inside. Iron Hands: March of Iron Strike Force A heady mix of daemonic power and debased Astartes ceramite, this Battleforce is the ideal way to throw in your lot with the Warmaster and start scouring the galaxy for the keys to victory. Games Workshop failed to say when these would be released, but chances are we will see them hit store shelves within one to two months at the very latest. It’s also worth mentioning that these battleforces may line up with a potential Space Marines 2.0 codex book and rumors of armies of renoun datasheets to make the first founding chapters fieldable in matched play again. Somehow, it’s happened again – Christmas is nearly here. It’s time for the greatest gift possible – Yuletide cheer and festive spirit. Or even better, massive Battleforce boxes full of Warhammer 40,000 goodies. Ravenstrike Battle Force The various factions of the 41st Millennium are now forced to undertake Boarding Actions against these twisted space hulks, with small, elite forces clashing in their claustrophobic confines.

Knight Household Battlegroup

Shooting. Chaos Space Marine shooting is generally not very good; most CSM guns top out at 24″ or 36″ range and most of the army’s core units rely on AP 0 boltguns, which are not good. While Chaos Space Marines certainly have some better shooting options, such as Obliterators, Contemptors, and Havocs, it’s not the army’s strongest area. Rules for units that are only available to the Blood Angels Chapter and their successors – including 18 datasheets This book used to have crucial rules for the Chaos Legions, but as of the release of the Codex, it’s no longer valid. You can basically skip or ignore it for the purposes of Chaos Space Marines. The one set of rules in it that might still be legal however are the rules for Be’lakor and his army of renown, but it’s likely those rules will no longer be valid after the release of Codex: Chaos Daemons.

Tzeentch’s might is yours to master with the Fatesworn Host – a massive battleforce set that’s perfect for starting or expanding a Tzeentch army. Inside, you’ll find the makings of a vast force, giving you a fantastic point to expand out from, all for less than you’d pay getting the models separately. Lead your forces with a Lord of Change and Gaunt Summoner while shattering enemies with formations of Kairic Acolytes and Tzaangors. Lord of Change – a massive, magical Greater Daemon perfect for commanding your forces that can also be built as the two-headed mad seer known as Kairos Fateweaver. The Balefleet Battleforce is a contingent of corrupted warriors comprised of 10 Possessed, five Chaos Space Marine Terminators, and a Helldrake, all led by an infernal Daemon Prince. Many Imperial strategists believe the Bastion Platoon to be the mainstay of the Astra Militarum fighting force. A combined arms formation of infantry and supporting armour, a Bastion Platoon can break wave after wave of enemy assaults with withering lasgun, heavy weapon and artillery fire. Word Bearers are known for cavorting with Daemons, and are great fits for running lots of Possessed. You’ll want a Dark Apostle and a Master of Possession if you’re running them, and likely a daemon engine or two in addition to your possessed. The Word Bearers trait is very good for melee units that normally hit on a 3+.

Expanding Your Army

Borrowed Units. Chaos Space Marine armies can run Plague Marines, Rubric Marines, and Berzerkers, and these each have some interesting play in the army. This is an important question when looking at what factions could be next. It’s u nclear if sprues are new production or taken from existing slow-moving products and reboxed into battleforces. The Tyranids have invaded the galaxy from beyond the intergalactic void, their hive fleets slithering like tendrils into every region of the galaxy. Driven by the imperatives of the almighty Hive Mind, their swarms sweep over world after world in a living tide of biological killing-machines and seek to devour every last shred of biomass in their path. This set is supplied in 444 plastic components and comes with 1x 100mm round base, 4x 40mm round bases, and 30x 32mm round bases. Tzaangor Enlightened – champions of Tzeentch who use their discs to get into combat at incredible speeds. These can also be built as lethal long-ranged Tzaangor Skyfires.
