Practical button layout and large vibrant display makes operating Elan E3 a pleasurable experience. Browsing menus, selecting stations and adjusting settings is simple and intuitive. A potential downside of the display is that the text is much smaller than on some other Pure radios and the similarly priced Roberts Play 10. Although the display is bright and the text is clear some users may still prefer larger text with less information. Our verdict on the Pure Elan One As mentioned above, one of the first thing we noticed in our Pure Elan E3 review, was the fact that this device is very easy to use. You don’t need to spend forever reading your Pure Elan E3 manual before you can get started. And as if that was not enough, DAB/DAB+ devices are substantially more energy efficient while also offering much more variety in terms of stations (radio programmes) than classic FM receivers. Plus, DAB/DAB+ can receive data such as song title, album, artist, album cover images or even videos in addition to sound and music.

Once setup is complete – the world is your oyster, with the Pure Elan Connect providing access to 25,000 radio stations. But the real advantage of web radio is access to podcasts, which the Pure Elan Connect presents in a simple file structure. You can scroll down lists of podcasts and episode titles, for which the display is just about large enough.

Digital radio - how does it work?

Despite being slightly less expensive than the BT3, the Elan E3 actually comes with many of the same capabilities, including aux input for streaming your own music, and the option to switch between mains and battery power.
