Description

One of the most important but least known characteristics of microSD cards is the NAND type. The NAND type describes how the physical cells that store information were constructed. SD vs microSD There are two physical sizes, SD and microSD. In 2019, all consumer dash cams we’ve seen use the smaller SD card size. There are only a few specialized cameras we’ve seen that use the larger SD card size. As well nearly all microSD cards include an SD card adapter so you’re covered for all uses. 3D NAND Reigns Supreme Consumers used to see only two types of flash memory: TLC (Triple Level Cell) and MLC (Multi Level Cell). Both are planar (flat) which means all memory cells are on one layer.

All cards will wear out at some point, so in the end the user is always going to be responsible for their cards. Same as always, best to choose a card which many other users of that exact cam are currently having good experiences with regardless of card specs. And remember that a warranty is not going to do you any good if you lose needed video because of a failed card. The SanDisk Max Endurance lineup of microSD cards includes models featuring a 32 GB, 64 GB, 128 GB, and 256 GB capacity. Western Digital does not indicate which type of 3D NAND memory it uses for these cards or their terabytes-to-be-written (TBW), but it is reasonable to think that these products have some additional NAND flash for overprovisioning and, perhaps, extra controller capabilities.

The N2 Pro is not a write-intensive cam so most decent U-1 Class 10 cards should do fine. For cams like this, the only benefit from using an 'endurance' type card is a longer expected card life. If these specs hold true, any of these cards will outlive that cam at least three to four times over Do be aware that regardless of specs, some cam/card combinations 'do not play together well' so to speak so there's no certainty these will work for you although they should. The pricing for the 128GB seems quite nice so it may be worth trying. microSD™ นี้สร้างขึ้นให้คงทน 1 และสามารถบันทึกวิดีโอได้ดีเยี่ยมจนคุณวางใจได้ ว่าการ์ดจะช่วยปกป้องโลกของคุณให้ปลอดภัย MB/s ความเร็วในการเขียนสูงสุด 40 MB/s จากการทดสอบภายใน ประสิทธิภาพการทำงานอาจต่ำกว่านี้โดยขึ้นกับอุปกรณ์โฮสต์ สภาวะการใช้งาน และปัจจัยอื่นๆ 1 MB = 1,000,000 ไบต์ If that is the case, then bundle a particular class of card(ex: endurance) or a specific card(WD Purple or Samsung blah blah) that has been tested with the product; and advertise as such.

Hey Gary, good question. Kingston Go Cards while designed for video, aren’t designed for the pressures of constantly overwriting files. There’s no mention of their endurance rating. While there is a lifetime warranty (without any restrictions on dash cam use too!) you don’t actually want to use it. While there are ways of using external SSDs, which are much more resilient, they can be quite complicated to set up. And despite the downsides of using microSD cards, I still recommend them for absolute beginners who are only getting their feet wet. Once you are well into the project and haven't given up on Home Assistant, you can start to think about other storage solutions. Most expensive memory cards i ever got was 64 GB U3 cards some years ago, had to RMA one of them before it filled up just 1 time.Compared to our previous budget recommendations (Transcend 400X, Lexar 633X) it’s a significant improvement in reported failures. We wouldn’t be surprised if these are made from 3D NAND (128GB Evo Plus is 3D NAND) but have not been able to confirm. Larger 128GB+ Cards Both nice cards, i have been beating the snot out of both for a year in a attempt to destroy them, so far i am loosing. Extreme endurance means you can trust this microSD card to exceed your expectations with up to 120,000 hours (over 13 years) 1 of continuous monitoring.
