Mittens are known to be much warmer rather than gloves because they do not allow wind inside. However, the warmth edition comes with the price of dexterity. While lobster gloves are a cross between normal gloves and mittens, the new Pearl Izumi Inferno gloves are a cross between lobster gloves and regular gloves! You can see the 2-finger design below:

Gore invented the idea of a breathable membrane. Many of the other options on this list use either a Gore-branded membrane or a duplicate of the same concept. Not every membrane Gore makes is waterproof, but the membrane in the Gore C5 Gore-Tex gloves is absolutely and completely waterproof and guaranteed to be so.

The deep winter rating comes firstly from the 100% windproof outer fabric. This fabric has a high breathability rating of 15K (15,000 g/m2/24h), so your hands will remain comfortable even if you work up a sweat. A PFC-free DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coating on the outside will shrug off light rain and spray. There are details beyond just cold-weather performance that make these attractive, too. One of those details is smartphone compatibility. Pearl Izumi makes sure you can use your smartphone without removing your gloves although realistically you'll be using your thumbs not your finger. There is a touchscreen point on the forefinger but given the lobster design it's almost completely unusable.

I've used a few lobster style gloves before and, all things considered, I much prefer a two-by-two finger pairing. Your fingers might feel different. Value The inside of the gloves is a Primaloft Gold Active+ material that's reassuringly fluffy to slip your hand into before heading out into the elements. Using a lobster design and bunching fingers together so they can cosy up for warmth is a common winter glove tactic, but while the outer three fingers are grouped together in a fat claw, they each get to snuggle into their own little compartment within that broader part of the glove. Great for extra wind from electric bicycles and scooters: if riding on your electric bicycle or scooter is causing your hands to get cold, Try the borealis gloves for extra coverage No matter how long you plan to ride.If you live in Florida, a pair of lobster claw gloves will not leave your drawer. A pair of liners will keep your hands warm and happy when you ride your bike.

The Nordic 2s are designed for arctic winter rides where the temperature hovers around zero, with added wind chill. As GripGrab is a Scandinavian company, you'd hope its designers have plenty of experience and know-how in making a glove that can cope with the most digit-numbing of conditions. But while GripGrab can certainly make a very warm glove, you may not find it perfect for cycling. These are the standard, regular gloves with full protection and grippy fabric on the palm side. Most of the time you’ll want to wear full-finger cycling gloves when cycling in winter. Mountain bike gloves The first thing I tend to tell people about finding the right winter cycling gloves is to go warmer than you think you need. If you are someone who tends to run warm and constantly has warm hands, you probably know this and you can choose appropriately. For everyone else, go warmer. Your hands sit without moving much for long periods of time and at least for me, when it's cold my hands are cold. I don't think I've ever been on a long cold ride and felt like my hands were too warm. When I'm in the drops I'm definitely a two fingers on the bars, two fingers tugging the brakes kinda guy, and asking around, I'm not alone, so if you're the same then transitioning to using just an index finger might be a stretch. With the mercury hovering between 10 and 3 degrees, my hands felt perfectly snug and temperate. Cold arctic winds nagging at the outer fibres never gave rise to chill, or sogginess at the other extreme. Persistent showery rain also had little effect, and formative impressions were generally favourable. I've ridden 40 minutes or so in some persistent rain and though the outer shell turned soggy, the inner remained dry to touch. The sensible cuff design hasn't permitted any to be blown inside either.Eric has “over 15 years of adventure cycling experience ranging from Alaskan winters, to high and remote Himalayan passes, to thousands of miles across South America,” so these pogies should stand up to whatever you can throw at them. Voler’s Thermal Gloves will provide the warmth needed for winter weather training in moderate cold. The palm is crafted from tough, abrasion-resistant suede material, strategically equipped with gel padding for supreme comfort and a secure grip on handlebars, no matter the weather. The suede fabric allows you to use your smartphone without the need to remove your gloves, and there’s even a handy nose wipe on the thumb. Specialized takes their “Body Geometry” fitting to a new pair of cold weather gloves. These gloves have all five fingers and are designed for temps down to 30 degrees F. I'm beating around the bush though; do they keep your hands dry? So far, they have but I don't think they will end up being perfect. Light Oregon rain is still substantial and so far, I haven't gotten them to leak. What I learned during those lighter rain rides is that they have a lot more dexterity than a bulky insulated glove and that the liner you choose matters a lot.

On Tuesday it wasn't particularly cold but I'm worried that with them getting that damp, they will get very cold. Neoprene gloves seem like the perfect solution to riding in the rain. In reality, that is true but only when the rain is reasonably warm. As long as the air isn't too cold your hands will get wet then warm the water in the neoprene and you'll be toasty warm. If that's your riding environment then neoprene gloves are a great option and there are a ton to choose from. I first heard about 180s when they came out with neat ear muffs, so I was excited to see them doing a nice glove. I’d call this a winter glove for running, hiking, XC skiing, and even cycling. Multi-purpose, if you will. Overall it’s a very cool and innovative glove. But right now we’re looking at the MEC lobster gloves, which are highly regarded when it comes to quality lobster gloves. Even though they aren’t specifically a cycling company, I hear a number of cyclists raving about their great MEC lobster gloves. As I continued to look for an elegant solution to keeping your hands warm in cold rain, new products came to market. Both Sportful and Assos have waterproof shell gloves and they've changed the game a bit. Unfortunately neither solution is actually waterproof but they have a couple of advantages that make it all work anyway.Grip has been taken into careful consideration, as you can see from the underside of the glove, with silicone sections on the fingers and palms. SealSkinz Extra Cold gloves – men’s and women’s I'd already run the Sportful Lobster gloves under the faucet. The performance was impressive and I came away with dry hands. That test doesn't tell the whole story though. Although you can learn if a fabric is technically waterproof there's another layer to actually keeping your hands dry. It's not always clear why a glove leaves you cold and wet but there's almost always a disconnect between hours spent riding with your hands in the rain and how waterproof a fabric is on a technical level. I knew that I needed at least an hour of hard rain but, of course, that's not what I got. The last hard rain came when the forecast called for dry weather and I left the house completely underdressed. What I had to settle for was merely light rain but I still learned a lot.
