Description

Violet internally struggled a lot more in this book by bottling up her emotions, distancing herself from her friends, and taking on too much responsibility (like researching the wards). Violet is just as strong and determined as she was in Fourth Wing, but in Iron Flame, we see the toll everything takes on her. I'm glad that by part two she starts to lean on her friends more, but I'm worried how she's going to manage after the events at the end of book 2. There's only so much a person can take, and I fear Violet may break at some point in the future. I'm looking forward to seeing how her character develops in the rest of the series. Friend or foe, as long as there's reciprocal respect, as long as educating others means patiently and kindly exposing facts and not trying to shove what you think is the truth down other people's throat, I'll more than gladly listen to anything you have to say.

Now the real training begins, and Violet’s already wondering how she’ll get through. It’s not just that it’s grueling and maliciously brutal, or even that it’s designed to stretch the riders’ capacity for pain beyond endurance. It’s the new vice commandant, who’s made it his personal mission to teach Violet exactly how powerless she is – unless she betrays the man she loves. I'm choosing to help whoever I feel needs helping in a way that's suited to my personal beliefs and that has nothing to do with the books I prefer to engage with.Because Violet knows the real secret hidden for centuries at Basgiath War College - and nothing, not even dragon fire, may be enough to save them in the end. The way that this book has captivated readers is truly incredible. What have you learned about this fanbase?

Fourth Wing was a perfect book for me and a 10 outta 10 so even though Iron Flame didn’t reach that level for me and had quite some flaws, it was still an enjoyable book to read and I love love love this world so much with the dragon and magic and harry potter vibes. I love this series and after that brutal ending I need the next book in my hands right now. Praying that we don’t have to wait a whole year for the next book to come out. Her chronic illness is mine, look at it that way. I have Ehlers Danlos, and my sons do too. So it was important to me when I brought the project to my editor, I said, “I would like to include this in there.” And we had a big talk about how representation works, especially because EDS has 13 subtypes. So we wanted to make sure that everyone felt represented. … I knew it’d be relatable because it’s her wits that make (Violet) strong — but I think what surprised me was the number of readers that came to me and said, “Thank you. I feel represented.”Iron Flame Violet is a total badass and she's definitely grown a lot, but she also feels a little incomplete and rough at the edges. I don't know if it's intentional and/or tied to her future evolution, but I wouldn't have minded her being more confident, especially when it comes to her relationship with Xaden. I love you. You could throw my entire world into upheaval, and I would still love you. You could keep secrets, run a revolution, frustrate the shit out of me, probably ruin me, and I would still love you. I can't make it stop. I don't want to. You're my gravity. Nothing in my world works without you." Why did you choose Liam as the one that Violet would hallucinate during her long interrogation by Varrish, when she could have also imagined Mira or Xaden or anyone else she loved was there? To Sloane’s credit, she doesn’t cry out as I cover as much of her body as I can, curling over her, but the soul-rending screams behind us are unmistakable. I open my eyes long enough to see Aaric laying flat over the redhead under the endless stream of fire.

Dystopian Fiction Books Everyone Should Read: Explore The Darker Side of Possible Worlds and Alternative Futures The trio nearly collides directly behind the center of our wing — our section — then bolts toward the opening in the courtyard wall where the parapet lies. It was still a feathertail when she went into Resson, and then when she goes through that explosion of growth, she comes out and that’s when her tail forms. It’s during that explosion of growth. And I’m sure you can put together why it’s a scorpion tail. I wanted readers to dig into the choice. So if you are Andarna and you are a feathertail and you watch the thing closest to you that you love most in the world poisoned by a dagger, would you not become the poison yourself? It’s honestly just the natural progression of the character. This is what she just watched happen. Book three, man! I love Andarna. I think it’s fun that she’s a teenager, too. And she eats everything because I have teenage boys and my editor is like, why is she eating everything, and I’m like, have you ever been with teenagers? She’s eating all the sheep, and I love that Brennan is like, how do I find enough sheep? There are logical questions when Violet brings the entire riot to Aretia and Brennan is like, how do I feed you? But everything regarding Andarna is coming. That is not an “Iron Flame” question, my dear. I actually prefer Book 1 a lot more than this book because that was more clear and exciting than this one. Not that this one wasn't great, but it didn't give the same feelings as the first one did when it hooked me instantly because of the Parapet scene. Many things didn't work for me. The start of this book wasn't as exciting... (she was eating freaking biscuits). And Brennan's revealation and all were just so avg and boring? A lot of info dumps too. The Dragons made this book better!I never knew the book would be this big and if I had, I probably would have made different choices. My family is Scottish, I come from Scotland, ancestry-wise. So my great grandmother was born in Glasgow. My mom’s family is all clan Hamilton. It was really just choosing Gaelic words as a love letter to my mom and her family and my ancestors. And then I had a moment where, you know when you read a word and it sounds different in your head? That’s what happened to me. And I remedied it by finding a Gaelic tutor. And I’m sorry. So ask me in a year and maybe I will be able to pronounce those with some efficiency and confidence. But alas, at the moment that’s not going well for me and I am sorry.

But it’s nice to have it confirmed. They are clearly at post-parapet in this excerpt. And Violet, Ridoc, Imogen, Quinn and Dain are all there. And yeah, there is a nice surprise: Sloane too!I mean it is a teaser so it was fairly obvious Yarros wouldn’t be giving us too much. Just enough to make us all cry that the book is not out yet. There is nothing about Xaden and Andarna. We totally want to know what is going on and let’s face it, we will just have to wait for another month and three weeks. Who’s counting? Are you counting? Love, at its root, is hope. Hope for tomorrow. Hope for what could be. Hope that the someone you've entrusted your everything to will cradle and protect it. And hope? That shit is harder to kill than a dragon. So there it is, Violet is now officially in her second year and Imogen is in her Third Year. And we are more clueless than before and just as freaking anxious for November 7th. FIVE. FREAKING. STARS. There is no universe where I could give this book any less of a rating' ***** READER REVIEW
