In 2014, we introduced The Mini Crossword — followed by Spelling Bee, Letter Boxed, Tiles and Vertex. Although both number puzzles share a lot of similarities, there’s also a major difference – amount of arithmetics involved.

If you sign into your online account on multiple devices - your desktop and phone for example - and open the same puzzle on both, only the one that opened it last will be able to save it. If fill uses cage combinations is enabled (via the Preferences menu), then it only adds numbers that appear in the respective cage combinations, otherwise it adds all numbers from 1 to 9. You can use the Calculator to work out the cage combinations for any cage - even one that isn't in the puzzle. You can update all of the highlighted cells together by using the keyboard or the touchpad as normal.

Make sure the sum of numbers in each cage is equal to the number in the upper left corner of the cage. If you aren't signed in, your progress is saved to your browser's local storage, so you can close your browser or switch off your computer, then come back later and continue from where you left off.

If a cell contains many notes/pencil marks and you want to quickly enter a final answer, tap the CLEAR button (or press the C key) then enter the final answer. When you sign into your account, you'll see a My Puzzles page that shows all of the puzzles you've attempted or solved. If fill uses cage combinations is enabled, the FILL button will only add the numbers 1 2 3 4 to cells within the cage. In short, you can start solving a puzzle on one device and continue on another, but you can't solve it on two devices at the same time. This way, by applying the “45 rule” we filled two numbers on the empty grid and are off to a good start!When the highlighted cells all belong to the same cage, the Combinations control shows its cage combinations.
