Mash down by the shoreline, Dudley straining on his leash, and Sally-Ann, the Lhasa apso, sniffing the stone steps very reluctantly.It’s piled with boxes, bricks, bags of cement, ladders, planks, a small cement mixer, a leather sofa propped up on its end, and a builder’s dumpster filled with rubble. The climactic confrontation pits oceangoing mammals, seabirds, fish, and even zooplankton against hardware and technology in a nicely choreographed battle. Perfect for parents or caregivers of children aged two–twelve years old (and children's book lovers of all ages! This was certainly an enjoyable read, though I didn't connect with it as I have some of Welford's other novels (especially Time Travelling with a Hamster and The 1,000-year-old Boy). Now, to complete his delight, there should have been a clap of thunder and a flash of lightning revealing Dr.

Of course, with the exception of using a virtual time travelling machine to bring a cure to the present! Dogs seen outside — and that includes private gardens and enclosed spaces — will be regarded as strays. By the way, if you’re thinking the parallels to real-life might make the book too scary, be assured: there’s a happy ending and I have been careful to bear in mind my core readers’ age.Unimpressed, Georgie volunteers to help out at the dog shelter where Mr Mash is rehoused, but is soon no longer allowed to see him after a deadly and highly contagious disease threatens the life of every dog in the country and to her horror, Mr Mash himself becomes sick.
