About this deal

Plus after listening to the demo all summer the slick official release, with the gimmicky radio interludes, annoyed me.

Interscope Records/UMC adds an exciting new chapter to QOTSA’s catalog with high-quality 180gram vinyl editions of Rated R and Songs For The Deaf on November 22, 2019, and Lullabies to Paralyze and Era Vulgaris on December 20, 2019. Songs for the Deaf was the last appearance on a Queens of the Stone Age record by Brendon McNichol (lap steel) and Gene Trautmann (drums). Songs for the Deaf was Queens of the Stone Age's breakout album and garnered the band international recognition. Anyone who has had the pleasure of seeing Jalen perform live knows that he is one of the most captivating performers on today's soul scene. As of June 2007 the total amount of sold copies in the US is estimated at 1,186,000 according to Nielsen Soundscan.

S. and their first platinum seller in Britain and Canada, spawning the hits “No One Knows,”“Go with the Flow” and “First It Giveth. Unlike most edited versions, the edited version of Songs for the Deaf uses loud " bleeps" to censor lyrics, as if it were a live radio broadcast, as opposed to quietly muting the audio track. On Songs for the Deaf, core Queens of the Stone Age members Nick Oliveri and Josh Homme, with the help of like-minded consorts Dave Grohl and Mark Lanegan, balance pure guitar-induced carnage with more complex, though no less aggressive, rock that whips by so fast it creates its own breeze. Fortunately, this is only a temporary decline, but that these two tracks hit back-to-back in the dead center of the record makes for a much steeper dropoff than if they'd been sequenced farther apart. I've always looked at our first three records as a set: the first one was to distance ourselves from Kyuss, the second album fanned out the music into different areas and this one takes that out even a little further, I think.

Upon its worldwide release in late August 2002, the album peaked at number 17 on the Billboard 200 album chart. It's a broad parody of the Clear Channel wavelength empire, and while admittedly pretty fucking funny, the target is a bit obvious-- especially given that PS2's "Grand Theft Auto III" beat them to the punch two years ago and pulled it off expertly. Andy O'Connor's mom bought him a copy of Fargo Rock City during his freshman year of high school, hoping he would become the next Klosterman and bring honor to the O'Connor name. Now, it's no secret that, when it comes to rock's metal edge, these Queens want badly to be kings; you need look no further for proof than 2000's blistering, thuggish Rated R, on which frontman Josh Homme's searing guitars and theatrical vocals brought the band close enough to their goal to sniff the fleurs de lis.Lacquer was cut by Chris Bellman’s assistant while he was on vacation, per his posting on Steve Hoffman Forum. The album met with great success earning the band's first gold certification in the US on January 27, 2003, shifting over 500,000 copies, as well as platinum certification in the UK on September 20, 2002, with sales exceeding 100,000 of units sold. But even if they can't have it all, the guys do offer as real a showcase of metal-tinged panache and stellar songwriting as anyone might hope for from a band labeled 'stoner-rock. Whether the ace metal is speedy or onerous, it is always deployed in the service of the eccentric song structures, and every track becomes a splendid, mysterious thing. Most software CD players do not allow rewinding of this nature, and most MP3 "ripping" software will not include the data.

Shneider and Johannes, alongside Songs for the Deaf touring recruits Castillo and Troy Van Leeuwen of Failure and A Perfect Circle would subsequently become full-time Queens of the Stone Age members and contribute to the follow-up album Lullabies to Paralyze, released in 2005. Songs that were released between 1994 and 2013 were eligible for the poll and "No One Knows" was voted into eleventh position. His full length debut on Daptone Records is equal parts raw feeling and elegance and exudes confidence and charm. Although I wish I had that version I was pretty stoked to get a copy of this pressing which sounds just as good.
