Description

Designed as an easy-fit solution for the millions of vehicles on the road worldwide without digital radio, you’ll find Highway 600 easy to install in your car, you won’t even need any special tools, just a few simple steps and you’ll be up and running. Also, as a necessary consequence of being battery powered, the controller goes into standby after so many seconds, and also you don't get any programme (SI) information. Note: If you don’t have a laptop, you will need to remove Highway’s antenna from your windscreen and upgrade the software using a PC running Windows 7 8 and 10.

The aerials were located in accordance with the instructions, and the car was driven on a set route to see how the units coped with patchy DAB signal strength in valleys, as well as between buildings and other obstructions. If you are unsure about the suitability of this product please contact us via the ask a question link at the top of this page or telephone us and we will gladly assist you. Our other gripe is that the aerial is designed for fitment to left-hand drive cars and was a pain to install, requiring professional removal of the A-pillar trim. mm plug into the aux-in on your car radio, or if it doesn't have one, set the Highway audio-out to FM and it will generate a radio signal on a frequency of your choice between 87. It would be good if Pure offered an external aerial as an option to improve the reception of more distant multiplexes. The BBC will close their Internet Streaming IP services, known as Shoutcast, from mid-2023, the final date. The answer is a separate DAB adaptor that connects to your car’s existing stereo system, bringing the full range of DAB functions without having to crack open your dashboard. The Pure Highway 400 is a very neatly designed bit of kit, and it lives up to the company’s claims of easy installation – you can have it up and running in a matter of minutes.

If you take a little time you can perform a very clean installation without any tools at all – although an auto electrician could hard wire the system if needs be.Once all wired up, you simply switch on the car, fire up your existing radio, select aux-in as the source, switch on the Pure Highway controller, follow the start-up prompts and choose your radio station from the display. Using FM worked fine for us in testing – just tune the existing in-car FM radio to that frequency of the Highway 600 and you’re all set - but an aux-input is a better bet if possible, since it's not prone to interference. Doing this made it straightforward to attach the optional (it’s also included but only recommended that you use it) ‘magnetic grounding tail’ to the metal windscreen surround, with a view to ensuring the best possible signal. The tech is now fitted to almost every new car as standard, and is how more than 60 per cent of us listen to the radio. On Highway’s wireless controller, press the Home button and turn and press the Select dial to choose ‘ SETTINGS’>‘ USB UPDATE’> Confirm by choosing ‘ YES’.

Car information and entertainment systems can be complex networks, so we always recommends that you have your installation carried out by a qualified installer. To use the adapter, you need to attach an antenna to the windscreen of your car, so it’s not quite as simple as “plug and play”.While this is true of DAB in general, compared to the OEM-fitted DAB systems that come in most of the modern cars we test at CAR, the Pure drops out much more frequently, and for longer periods of time. But some relatively young cars still didn’t have DAB fitted at the factory, and changing the entire stereo for an aftermarket system is expensive and could lose functionality from a built-in infotainment system. You can connect simultaneously to your car’s hands free Bluetooth and Highway’s BT music streaming (refer to your handsets BT connection guide). We are happy to inform you that our new Evoke Play music system can be supplemented with a ChargePak and that these ChargePaks are available for purchase online on.

The sound quality depends on the quality of your car’s speakers, but if they are high-quality, the Pure Highway 400 is capable of producing a great sound, with more detail than you’d get from FM, provided you have a good DAB signal. Pure Highway 400 – which is rather cunningly designed to be a plug-and-play, user-installed solution that includes a number of other useful features. With the new software the devices are now compatible with the latest BBC Internet Radio broadcast standards. Whether you’re new to digital radio or already enjoy the great choice and quality of digital radio at home you’ll love listening in your car with Highway 600.

Note:If you are not a Spotify premium subscriber, a list of tagged tracks is available from within the application. And pairing the Bluetooth function with a phone to get hands-free operation is a whole new ballgame. One of these technologies was the Flow software platform that allowed Pure to consolidate and stream internet radio.
