About this deal

Nightingales nest in dense scrub, from where they sing their famously beautiful melodies throughout the day and at night. I could have gone to university and got a music degree and have learned from the textbook or just go to the well and drink from the most incredible source.

Stop by the woodland for a picnic, choose from three easy access trails for a peaceful outdoor walk or explore the trim trail play equipment, funded by the Great Western Community Forest project. This part really hooked me in on page 228 because Henry isn’t focusing on what’s around her – she’s just concentrating on her goal, which is rescuing Mama from Helldon. After many years in which almost all of Gibbons's output has been out of print, in 2011 the publishers Vintage Classics reissued paperback versions of Westwood, Starlight, and Conference at Cold Comfort Farm.

In my opinion, the history in this book is very realistic because the story is set in 1919 and the main character narrates the story in a way that sounds true to life.

Throughout the 1950s she continued, at roughly two-year intervals, to produce politely received novels, none of which created any particular stir. Employment opportunities grew with the Honda UK car factory, warehousing and retail parks that form the west and northern edges of the parish. The land at Nightingale was purchased in the early 1990s along with the land at Overscourt Wood in the late 1990s and were both planted on former farmland for the benefit of local communities.

There are a few routes to explore in the woodland, so you might have to come back a couple of times to know them all! With Swindon and Bristol on the doorstep of these woodlands, both sites are popular with, and well used by, the local community, with the car park at Overscourt often being overcrowded. Overscourt contains almost 50% broadleaf species and approaching 20% conifer species; whilst at Nightingale Wood broadleaves account for three quarters of the trees planted, and only 9% conifer. Stella Dorothea Gibbons (5 January 1902– 19 December 1989) was an English author, journalist, and poet.

Ticky, a satire on mid-nineteenth century army life, was Gibbons's favourite of all her novels, although she acknowledged that hardly anyone liked it.Hammill believes that Gibbons should be named alongside these two, since in her writings she rejects the stereotypical view of suburbia as unexciting, conventional and limited. At her funeral, her nephew and future biographer Reggie Oliver read two of her poems, the latter of which, "Fairford Church", concludes with the words: "Little is sure.
