The elements of the story that piqued my interest and had me interested were the “facts” of the story (partially because I love when something 100% fictional is backed up with fictional facts). There was also plenty of food and clean water which the Red Cross was told about, making FantasticLand a low priority for relief efforts. A video was released of the National Guard entering the park by one of the soldiers for money and was dishonorably discharged. This is the second audiobook I’ve listened to where a fictional story is told through a series of interviews. The story was excellent, the narrators were excellent and I cannot wait to read more from this author!

and just how long did they think they were going to be trapped in this amusement park, where that would be a concern? An unexpectedly massive hurricane hits Florida, and the theme park gets cut off from civilization and rescue.There is a real cannon being fired from Pirate's Cove, right along with hanging bodies from the lamp lights. This paragraph is a bit apropos-of-nothing, but I'm putting it in because I think the blurb makes FantasticLand sound a bit like a tedious anti-social-media parable. Alternate History: FantasticLand was built in the 1970s and had grown to the point of being a serious competitor, in terms of theme parks, to the various Disney and Six Flags parks. From Bad to Worse: Initially the employees were simply stuck in the park without their phones with tensions rising when Sam Garliek restricted access to the control room. The Pirates, at least Brock Hockney and the only other who was interviewed, try to present themselves as this claiming that the other tribes exaggerated their crimes and cruelty.

Only two people of those left behind had any medical training and only in First Aid; there were no antibiotics or strong pain medicines. The CFO of the company at the time had a very in-depth emergency plan in place; the problem was it was made in the 70s, never updated, and for the park as whole and not individual sections. Through a series of first-person interviews, the reader learns of the circumstances and (sometimes twisted) perspectives that led to the horrific scene found when help finally arrived. It was anticipated she would be a wreaker of havoc, but no one ever anticipated her effects would be felt so far inland and just how powerful she would become. Both of the narrators were excellent, which is good because each one of them voiced many characters throughout the tale. however, i have a soft and mooshy place in my heart for the freaks, and i definitely have a book-crush on glenn guignol, who is played by jim rose in my head.These narrators were so excellent, they sounded like entirely different people from interview to interview.
