We loved that we didn’t have to worry about burning our fingers in the process, as the Airwrap doesn’t use extreme heat to do its thing.

While I would say the Dyson Airwrap is quieter than a standard hairdryer, it is quite high-pitched, almost like a dentist’s drill.When it comes to the new engineering on the upgraded Airwrap, some changes you can see, some you can't. Air, when propelled at the right speed and pressure, naturally follows an adjacent surface, entraining surrounding air. It comes in a tan leather-effect storage case, which snaps shuts via a magnetic clasp, which looks attractive enough to make you want to leave it out instead of tucking it away in your cupboard when not in use. Tapping into the current vogue for healthy hair styling, the Styler is designed to create curls, waves, and bouncy blow drys without using extreme heat that can leave your strands feeling frizzy and dry.

The final look was natural and I was happy with it, although my first attempt was pretty messy — you need to practice to get the best results. The Dyson AirWrap comes in three different variants depending on which accessories come with it: Volume + Shape, Shape + Smooth, and the more expensive AirWrap Complete, which contains all the available styling attachments - we tried out the latter. Still, we were happy with the end result, and we noticed the hair looked shinier and healthier than in its natural state. The Airwrap barrel produces voluminous curls or waves, and the soft smoothing and round volumizing brush let you achieve a sleek, straight style or round, bouncy curls. You need to partially dry your hair using the pre-styling dryer before you can use the Airwrap’s other tools.You'll also have to consider your hair type and what you're trying to achieve: While my hair happens to hold a curl well, the Airwrap might not be right for you if your hair struggles to hold a style as the gentle heat may not be strong enough to set a style (although that can be improved by using styling products like a mousse or using the curling attachments on damp hair). If you’re someone who styles their hair regularly — whether that’s blowing out, straightening or curling your hair, or a healthy dose of all three — you’ll be impressed too. The design is the most obvious change, but in using the attachment, the airflow felt stronger since it's more concentrated, and my hair dried more quickly than it did with the old Airwrap dryer head whose airflow I always found to be a bit too weak to even rough dry my thick hair. If you do decide to keep the storage case on display, it will look the part with a faux-leather finish and a magnetic clasp to close.
