About this deal

Imaging and Sound Stage: Decent instrument separation mostly only left and right because of the moderate sound stage. A few months ago, I did a review of the Sennheiser IE600. At the time, I felt like it set the bar its price point. I still feel like that is the case. I have not heard anything since that has provided the level of sound. Clarity, comfort, plentiful yet controlled bass, great accessories, and stellar build all make it an amazing buy. When the opportunity came to try the IE200, I jumped at the opportunity. There was once a time when in-ear headphones like the Sennheiser IE 200 were the most convenient way to listen to music on the go. That all changed with the arrival of Bluetooth options, specifically true wireless earbuds, but wired headphones aren’t dead just yet. Depending on tip position, the IE 200 sound can be characterized as either “bass-boosted neutral” or “bright-neutral.” The treble is astonishingly praiseworthy as a single 7mm transducer is able to hold the balanced sound while producing such extension and air in the sound. The exposure of the treble is not something new as a few under or around this price provide such a tonality. The differences comes when the technicalities comes into play. The response becomes rich and details without producing nuisances in tonal balance. The upper treble sounds extensive and airy with good details which are vividly clear to listen to. The vocals have a little shy approach but keeps harmony between the instruments and itself very well. The vocals sound have a realistic persona. The instruments have a more forward approach where it seems not to be edgy or sharper but anyhow brings out good details without being emphasizing the dynamic range. The instruments do have a lush presence but comes out beautiful and informative. I should also point out that these aren’t the detail monsters but usually the tonality suffers of those IEMs with great technicalities especially those with dynamic drivers. The lower treble sounds a little spicy yet retaining the tonal performance and not being metallic or odd sounding. The vocals have a lively approach where as the instruments works in harmony with the vocals while producing a forward presence with better dynamics and soft timbre. There hints of a little hotness with instruments playing in high octaves. All in all the presentation of the treble region is ecstatic and vivid with smooth flow of presentation.

That being said my re-tuned sub boosted Ej'S didn’t and the IE200 were very close in texture and actually the IE200 had a tad more quality and texture. Audiophile sound True Response transducers eliminate distortion for neutral, true-to-life voicing and impactful bass without peaks or troughs When you slide open the inner box, you will immediately see the 2 earpieces on top, embedded in foam. Below you have the cable placed in the middle and below that you fill find the IE 200 safety guide and a little carrying pouch which contains the tips (3 pairs of Viscoelastic foam and silicone tips (S/M/L)). The soundstage is wide and far and every note or element is rightly positioned with providing good holographic exposure. The imaging could be better but to be honest it is very suiting to my taste because of such a beautiful tonality. The separation is commendable as the elements have enough space to breathe and perform where they are placed distant enough to be easily pinpointed as to describe where the sound is coming from. The product is returned in original condition (with brand’s/manufacturer's box, MRP tag intact, userThe CS source added in just a tad of the weight for male vocals and proper instrument tone while providing the more resolving clean nature needed to make female vocals sound right. Thanks Melissa Ethridge. Fit is crucial for in-ear headphones and the IE 200 are both comfortable to wear for long periods and remain secure in your ears. Having to loop the cabling over your ears is less convenient than popping earbuds straight in but it’s reassuring to know that the earphones won’t be pulled out if you get the cable caught on something.

Anyone considering wired in-ears at this level is almost certainly after better sound quality than wireless alternatives at the same price point can offer them. Either that or they have forgotten to charge their previous wireless pair one time too many. Wired in-ear headphones are not more hassle-free to wear than the floods of Bluetooth earbuds available (not least as many phones now require a dongle to accommodate them), nor do they carry as much street cred. They can’t respond to app control, nor can they connect to two devices at once (without a physical splitter). However, the higher-end models do have some variations in them with the IE 600 driver using a dual Helmholtz resonator chamber design and the IE 900 using an X3R version. The IE 300 uses a 7mm XWB dynamic driver which is another variation of the TrueResponse driver using a different blend of materials. Add Sennheiser’s 2-year warranty policy and excellent customer support, and suddenly the IE 200 feel like an investment you are unlikely to regret as long as you know what you are getting.Shoving the tip to the base of the IE 200 nozzle will create what Sennheiser defines as the “standard position” for reference listening. Whereas, moving the tip up to the top of the nozzle is described as the “open position”. At this price point, I have zero complaints about the build. They are made from plastic compared to the metal on the I600. That said, the plastic feels extremely high quality. This is my review of IE 200 Already listened to all IE Series IEMs 300 & 600 at the audio store. Personally, I owned IE 900 for my regular music sessions. With the IE 200, nothing stands between the user and discovering new sonic landscapes. Harmonic distortion is almost non-existent, with a natural frequency response curve typically found in earphones costing significantly more. The IE 200 delivers superbly balanced and realistic audio”

Why not make balanced, high-fidelity sound available to everyone, no matter where they are? The IE 200 is Sennheiser’s answer. Whether you’re a lifelong audiophile — or you just want better sound on the road — these exceptionally neutral and precise earphones reveal an entire world of new detail.Make sure to push the tips deeper into the canal in this particular tip position; otherwise, high-pitched vocals may sound shouty.

Sennheiser’s IE series has been quite the powerhouse in the world of IEMs. The new IE 200 is the latest set of earphones from them that made a big impression on me, even more impressive when you see the price. Its strongest comparison would be the IE 300, Sennheiser’s former iteration of a budget-fi IEM that is now off the market. Of course, there are still ways to get the IE 300, but the new IE 200 is meant to be the logical upgrade to the IE 300, but there will always be specific characteristics that some will prefer. Here are some of the differences and similarities you can expect from the IE 200 and IE 300. What You Get The build quality and finish of my set of IE 200 is perfect, there’s really nothing bad I can say about it. Important to see and note is that the IE 200 has a rib/ridge on the canal so the tip can be held in place. The nozzle is also sealed with a plastic mesh so that dirt and wax can’t easily enter the IEMs. In fact, that mesh logo can be found in the foam tips as well, they share the same design. Sennheiser/Deutsche Gründlichkeit. The cable terminates in a 3.5mm plug at one end and connects to the earphones via MMCX connectors at the other. The sections before those connectors are sheathed in a semi-rigid, flexible material that allows you to hook the cabling over your ears for greater in-ear stability.

Sennheiser – based on 15 years of TrueResponse Transducer technology – chose to use their single 7mm driver, which we have seen before. This 7mm XWB (extra wide band) driver is responsible for the extra-wide frequency range and ultra-low harmonic distortion of these earphones. The diffuse-field equalization delivers an amazingly balanced sound. The IE 200 was designed in Germany, but it’s being built in China. Finally, I will only evaluate the IE200 based on their performance, even though I will explain how it feels and seems physically and aesthetically. This remarkable lightness (4g/side) is achieved by using a plastic shell. Despite being all plastic, the IE 200 feel well put together. The left channel has the model number embossed into the shell. Sennheiser gave me the IE200 in exchange for my honest review. At no point did Sennheiser influence my decision. My thoughts are my own. I have not noticed any driver flex or pressure build-up with the IE 200 so far and they sit nicely fit in my ears during long listening sessions. Nothing negative to report here.
