About this deal

Decide at this point things are going to be a lot simpler if I just take the radio upstairs to where the computer is (I’m going to have to connect it to USB anyway). But first, take a photo of the display, showing the hardware identifier.

Use serial numbers codes with a consistent format that’s easy for humans to parse. Use dashes where you have separators. Maybe copy something familiar, like the 0000-0000-0000-0000 credit/debit card style. If you’re asking people to enter more than one code, perhaps you’re doing it wrong. (Can’t a unique hardware identifier give you all the information a serial number can?) Diversity can be so easy: Do you want to tune in and listen to classic USW or DAB/DAB+ radio? Or do you prefer to dial up your Spotify Connect via Bluetooth - be it from your smartphone, tablet or notebook? Or, easier yet, how about connecting, for instance, your turntable to your Pure radio via AUX for even greater choice? Wonder what to do. Can I get the serial number via the radio’s UI? Poke around the settings menu a bit. Doesn’t look like it.Pure premium internet radio spreads outstanding sound and good mood wherever you need the one or the other. You might want to fall asleep to your favourite tunes, start your day with a pot of coffee and a podcast or put on some kitchen swagger. You might also want to keep up to date with what’s going on in the world. With Pure radio, you can do it all. Upgraded the firmware on a Siesta Mi and a Siesta to permit a DAB+ upgrade. I've upgraded these before so had no problem with the actual process, although it can be a bit fiddly.

Notice letters are lower case. Enter again in uppercase in case of sloppy programming. Still rejected. Try and tune into a DAB+ station. Opt for Gold. Appears in the station listing twice, once as Gold on local mux I know I definitely can’t get in this room, and as Gold UK on D1 in DAB+ (40k), which is what I need to test. Scrolling “intellitext” freezes and radio spontaneously reboots. Worry about this – is radio too old to cope with new software? Later: reception has improved and I can confirm the DAB+ upgrade has worked. I’m grateful the radio I bought almost ten years ago will continue to work. The manual for the Pure One doesn’t list a way to display the serial number. We’ve tried on our One Mi Series 2 and can only see the software version and the device identifier. If you still have the box for the radio the serial number may be displayed on the outside.Add in the low price, reasonably-priced optional battery and good sound quality and the One Mini appears quite the bargain. If you can stomach the extra cash, the Evoke 1S offers a more attractive design and warmer sound, but we do think this second series model represents a significant upgrade over the original 2008 One Mini.

A number was indeed missing – the ‘1’ had been scratched off. (To the app’s credit, although I can’t copy paste it, it remembers the last number I scanned when I subsequently reopen it, and it tells me what type of barcode it is.)Open App Store on phone. Start typing “barcode scanner”. Choose “barcode scanner” from autocomplete dropdown rather than barcode scanner free (likely stuffed with ads etc.?) or barcode scanner uk (what’s so country-specific about a barcode scanner app?). Hmm – mine has 6 numbers, 2 letters, but then a gap and 1 number at the end. Move radio around in light whilst squinting at barcode. Is that a scratch in the label, where a number used to be? Applicable models: Chronos 2, Contour 100Di, Elan 2, Evoke 1S, Evoke 2S, Highway, One Classic, One Classic Series 2, One Elite, One Elite Series 2, One Mi, One Mi Series 2, Siesta, Siesta Mi, Siesta Mi Series 2 Bear in mind though that the volume and scale of sound are necessarily limited. It performs very well given its form factor, but you’re expecting too much if you want it to fill a room with lush sound or power a party. It asserts its presence in the mid-range – there’s not masses of refined high-end detail (which the DAB signal often doesn’t supply anyway) or much of a low-end bassy thump. In terms of pure shape, the Series II edition of the Pure One Mini looks just like the original. It’s small, square-ish and not as intensively-styled as some of Pure’s wood-bodied models like the Pure Evoke-3.
