do you hear the faint saxophone echoing through the streets? The dim orange lights of an old jazz club shine through the small, street level windows. I mean this stuff is just arcane. What a beautiful blend this is. This was my signature scent 7 years ago. I think I am on my third bottle. Haven't used it in a long time as my taste (and collection) developed over the years. A nice blend from top to bottom of sweetness and woods, this fragrance finally breaks away from the overdone aquatics and sports fragrances pushed onto the average consumer from the retail counter. This scent is as unique as it is versatile, posing no challenge for wear at work or for a night out. You might also find its linearity a plus or a minus. An olfactory treat of piquant, aromatic cinnamon over smoky cashmere wood and a plush, pillowy base of amber and warm musk. For those unfamiliar with cashmere wood, think of it as a rounder, hazier type of cedar wood, with something of a lower frequency. An element of mint cools the cinnamon--it's subtle--lending more to the effect of texture and temperature than outright smell. The floral notes are blended extremely well with the darker, stronger aspects, accenting the woody browns,incense grays and spicy reds with softer pastel hues, just light traces of florals hardly noticeable at first but vital to the overall composition. I love how they're treated here. Their absence would surely be noted and change the fragrance entirely, yet while they're present they never distract from the overall effect. For me, this is an example of the perfect use of rose in a masculine composition, as it adds a pretty, perfumed dimension to the woods without sacrificing masculinity. Underneath it all, there is the whisper of cola or sassafras, a sweet, familiar spiciness supplied by an angelica note. It lies within the bed of amber and musk, and serves as a bridge to the cinnamon that started things off.

Something made me dig this out and put 1 squirt on my inner elbow/arm. And I liked it! It's still soft, but the next morning (put on at about 9pm the night before) it was still there! And it still had enough character/sillage to recognize it. The next morning I had a powdery musky patchouli. Nothing ever lasts on my bare skin, so this was amazing to me.

The difference between a tincture and an elixir is that an elixir carries a sweetener, most of the time, honey. Both a tincture and an elixir seek to cure a disease or extend the person’s life. What is a love potion? Bottle is great, definitely not cheap feeling, has a very strong, heavy lid, and the bottle is very nice.Potion is wearable easy to like and a nice not costly choice for fall& cooler spring nights and even winter days but it's not really memorable..it can be used everywhere and by both mom's & girls..it's stays for about 4hours on my skin(much longer on clothes)and sillage is good when first applied but in about ten minutes reduces to moderate and then soft to moderate.it's versatile and easy to wear and can be a safe gift for alot of people. I see it as a good choice for someone who has always used simple pink fruity florals and now whats to step a bit further and get to know more complex,sexier fragrances without facing much difficulty in adapting Better vanilla than other modern fragrances but there is something very weird here: the Whole composition, after a while on both paper and skin smells a little putrid, like dirty water or in more optimistic way it smells like a sweet water city stream. If you like to byke along rivers you or close to ponds, you know that smell that in spite of being putrid can also smell a little attractive. Not nice in a perfume anyway. For me, it's like the smell of extra spicy cola syrup and something that comes together like sandalwood, touched up with something gorgeously floral -- I'm guessing it's mainly the angelica -- all while remaining confidently masculine. It's clean/spicy/woody/flowery/musky/sweet, calming, just a bit mysterious and wonderfully balanced. Can't speak to projection or sillage, but I can tell you it lasts at least long enough to enjoy your own scent for several hours. As good as this stuff smells, that's more than enough for me. The fragrance opens amber-warm, sweet and peppery. The sweetness is very boozy, as if you're sniffing a bourbon. As the sweetness slowly fades away (not completely) the woody and spicy notes come into play. It's still peppery. It remains like this throughout the heart. To my experience this is also where the fragrance just dies, as if there's no base.

The projection is subtle to moderate, just a bit stronger for the Edp, but the scents are definiately noticeble and as mentioned before heat activated in both cases. Longevity: I applied them at 5.30 PM. At 12.30 AM the next day I could surprisingly still get the Edp close to skin/1 inch while the Edt was gone.

Do go for the Edp since it will probably last longer. That is the main differens here. But if the Etd is what You can find, get it! This has it's place, it's subtle, certainly not a bad smell and certainly not entry level but I feel that considering all the notes it claims, more should be happening. I feel this is true of most EDT's you can buy at the drug store or Sephora, which is why I usually don't. Cinnamon and wood is a combo that when executed correctly can be comforting and masculine at the same time. DSQUARED has achieved a hit with potion. This is another cheap gem of a scent that really is as amazing as it is underrated. Potion is a well blended scent that really gives us a great example of a solid woody aromatic. I’m legit obsessed with Le Monde Gourmande, an affordable line of fragrances that includes this light and sweet vanilla perfume. It’s definitely decadent— hello, vanilla, brown sugar, and apricot—but the amber and jasmine help tone it down a bit from being too rich and heavy. I actually wear this in big crowds a lot without worrying it’ll give someone a headache. for those who dont like this am not sure what else will please you.I am more than OK with the scent-sillage and longevity are good to me.It is clearly an evening,cold or cool weather scent.it will not work on a scorching day:you'll be choking yourself.
