About this deal

DNF 30% I'm so disappointed,I love young adult books but this one is weird and I think its written for much younger readers.I'd enjoy it more if I was an actual teenager! I'm a bit disappointed with the ending, I felt it was a bit rushed as most of the book was relatively slow paced. The aftermath of these consequences are explored and whilst Simon Lelic handles each troubling subject matter with a grace and sensitivity, this could prove triggering for some readers. The moralistic ramifications are left for the reader to explore and it was interesting to see where my own feelings about the events that took place lay, and how my priorities had shifted over the course of my reading this. This park, House, the school –it doesn’t matter where we try to be alone together. House will ALWAYS be there. IT WILL ALWAYS SEE ME.”

The Housemaid: An absolutely addictive psychological thriller

Delilah and Gavin can’t resist each other. But staying together will exact a price beyond their imagining. He looked like he knew every one of her secrets. Who would have guessed that after six years Gavin Timothy would still seem so perfectly dangerous?Romance apart, the other element of the book I liked - the House. It's a MC too and has it's own personality. Yes, it's alive! I liked the idea of a living, constantly changing for the needs of his owner house. You want food - no problem, the food appears on the table. Need renovation - again, just imagine what color you want your walls. Money, food, clothes - everything appears when needed. The House was haunting, romantic, and suspenseful. Honestly, it would make a really fantastic movie! It's one of those stories that I found very easy to visualize complete as I read. The story just came to life in my mind. If they happened to be showing this story as a movie in theaters, I'd be lining up today! It was first adapted for the stage in 1964 by F. Andrew Leslie. [17] In 2015, Anthony Neilson prepared a new stage adaptation for Sonia Friedman and Hammer for production at the Liverpool Playhouse. [18] Radio [ edit ] Hill House has two caretakers, Mr. and Mrs. Dudley, who refuse to stay near the house at night. The four overnight visitors begin to form friendships as Montague explains the building's history, which encompasses suicide and other violent deaths. Although this is titled "The House" there are no real overly substance to that, for example, supernatural or anything like that, its more a character driven novel for me.

The House Of Books

I really enjoyed this one. Although different from anything I've read so far from my favorite writing duo, I was entertained all throughout the book, with a theme reminiscent of all my teenagers favorite reads. The spooky is quite spooky. The explanation isn't too far fetched and I really liked that it didn't overshadow anything. Yes, the House is a character and plays a pivotal role in the plot, but the focus stayed on Delilah and Gavin. If this really were a Stephen King novel there’d be cats turning into zombies by chapter three. Great nod to the King himself. Stephen King, in his book Danse Macabre (1981), a non-fiction review of the horror genre, lists The Haunting of Hill House as one of the finest horror novels of the late 20th century and provides a lengthy review. [11] In his review column for The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction, Damon Knight selected the novel as one of the 10 best genre books of 1959, declaring it "in a class by itself." [12] Neither occurrence in and of itself is particularly sinister, but when neither tells the other about what they’ve learned, the die has been cast. Because, suddenly, a dead body has been found in the alley behind their house and the police strongly suspect the couple for the crime. Could they have prevented all of it from happening just by sharing their secrets with one another? They’ll likely never know. Love love love Delilah and Gavin. They're absolutely adorable together and I loved how protective each was of the other. The swoons were strong in this one as well as the banter and scenes that had me grinning like a loon.

I was surprised more and more as the end approached, in fact I think that the more move forwards ,the story gets better, the revelations are great! . But they're not the only ones with secrets... I really don't want to spoil exactly what it "is" so I'll just quote the blurb for this next part... The judges will reveal the winning book during a prize ceremony at the BBC Radio Theatre on November 3rd.

THE NEW NEIGHBORS was a fast-paced riveting read for me. I loved the eerie tone throughout - felt like a gothic thriller. Hard to put down and original!
