Wow this is such a great idea! I make infused vodka a lot but never thought of infusing tequila. Awesome! Here, then, at the height of the California strawberry season, when the fruit just can’t get any redder or any sweeter, I present Strawberry Tequila. Once the tequila is at your preferred taste, strain out the berries by pouring the contents of the jar through a fine mesh strainer into a large measuring cup. You can use gold tequila or reposado, but I wouldn’t advise using añejo tequila, or aged tequila. Tequilas that are aged already have flavors to them, so for the best strawberry flavor, use blanco tequila, or silver tequila, for this infusion. 🍽️ recipe Fresh fruits and melons: if you enjoyed the infused strawberries, there are so many other varieties of fruits and liquor you can try. Watermelon also works really well with tequila, and if you want some delicious chilled treats for the top of your ice cream you can use blueberries, pineapple or raspberries. Strawberries are naturally sweet so I don’t think sugar is required in this recipe. But if you like a margarita on the sweeter side, feel free to add your favorite sweetener. I’d start with 3-4 tablespoons of honey, sugar or other sweetener, then taste. Salt or No Salt Add the tequila, grapefruit juice, simple syrup, and a small pinch of sea salt, and fill the shaker ¾ with ice. Shake until chilled, then strain into a highball glass filled with ice.

Chocolate Cappuccino Cream Puffs from Runner’s Tales inspired by Choux Pastry Heart by Corinne Bailey Rae Squirt has been around since the late ‘30s, but didn’t make it to Mexico until 1955. It’s likely that soon after being introduced, folks started casually mixing it with tequila, and somehow later it came to be known as the Paloma.

Prep your glasses. First, run a small wedge of lime around the upper outer rim of your glasses. Then roll it into the margarita salt mixture. Set aside. rum, gin, or vodka - you can also infuse other silver or clear liquors can with strawberry flavor! Try rum, gin, or vodka! Pour a whole bottle of tequila overtop of the strawberries. Save the bottle for storage after you’ve strained the berries to minimize needing containers. Add the strawberries, tequila, lime juice, orange liqueur, and honey to a blender. Blend until it's completely smooth. Taste test and add extra sweetener or alcohol if desired. In a medium saucepan, combine the strawberries, sugar and water. Set over medium high heat, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar. Bring the syrup to a boil and reduce to simmer. Simmer for 5 minutes.Muddle a couple of jalapeño slices with your strawberries to add some heat to your Paloma. If you have a favorite hot sauce, you could add a dash or two to the shaker instead of using jalapeños. I love to make Palomas with the craft Italian grapefruit soda from Whole Foods. It’s also great with the fancy grapefruit sodas from Q Mixers and Fever-Tree. You can go classic with Squirt, or even use easy to find brands like Fresca or Jarritos. Just like how only sparkling wine from the Champagne region of France can be called champagne, only liquor made in the Mexican state of Jalisco can officially be called tequila. That doesn’t stop other manufacturers from unofficially calling their liquors tequila, though. The great thing about this easy recipe is that all you need to do is mix a few ingredients and let it sit for a while.
