This book is intended to be part of an Extensive Reading program to learn a language. It's goal is to provide Comprehensible Input for the beginner. I capitalized those words so you can do a search and learn about them yourself if they are unfamiliar to you. There's lots of info on the internet and youtube about them. There's also a very informative and helpful introduction and quite a bit of info in the front of this book on how to use it best. Each story has a controlled vocabulary and will introduce the reader to about 1000 of the most common words used in that language. The podcast is aimed at a low intermediate level (A2-B1 on the Common European Framework [CEFR]). So, this podcast is not for complete beginners. Italian Short Stories For Intermediate Learners: 8 Unconventional Short Stories to Grow Your Vocabulary and Learn Italian the Fun Way!Everything is very simplified so the stories rely a lot on stereotypes of personalities (this is especially true of El caballero, La capsula and Tierras desconocidas). So a lot of the characters don't have very interesting personalities and the motivations are quite cliché for some things. But that's to be expected and necessary when the language itself has to be simplified. The Spanish speaking world is full of so many different accents, but whatever kind of Spanish you're learning – whether you plan to move to Mexico or to Argentina or to Columbia– it doesn't matter. 99% of all Spanish is the same! Stories are broken down into manageable chapters, so you make progress with the story and feel a sense of achievement. Realistic amounts of new vocabulary are introduced so that you’re not deterred by complex words. Instead of pausing to look up every word, you’ll absorb new vocabulary from the context of the story, and have the satisfaction of that moment when you say: “I totally understood that sentence!”
