I don’t think the statement rules anything out. I’d go as far as to say it deliberately dances around 77014 and Dial of Destiny. The notion that they’ve “consolidated the launch” leaves open the possibility of more sets in the future, but it could also be referring to an isolated wave. The statement is too vague to be anything of substance. If it was at the Nürnberg Toy Fair, maybe they used the displayed set to monitor the opinion of the visitors, and decide whether or not to produce it? I'm incredibly disappointed that this set won't see the light of day. Fortunately, I own the previous incarnation of Temple of Doom but was really looking forward to this one (and those updated minifigs!).

LEGO has provided a statement regarding the apparent cancellation, but we are going to examine this unusual occurrence more closely. After an early look this week, LEGO have finally unveiled the entire 2023 LEGO Indiana Jones range featuring sets and iconic scenes from Raiders of the Lost Ark and the Last Crusade. In fact, nearly ALL Asian men shown in the film are villains. The only ones who are not are women, children, the elderly guru, or the Indian soldiers who are part of the colonial army. LEGO’s new Modular Natural History Museum (10326) will be available in December instead of January 2024!

Interesting design choice making the temple a sideways diorama. Could a straight diorama maybe replicated some scenes, like the boulder one, better? Eh, cool set regardless. "

Jump from the small platform to grab the handrail on the tunnel wall. Climb to the right above the lava and then jump down into the tunnel ahead. Several waves of Thuggees emerge from the high tunnel on the left. Smash them until they eventually stop coming. The Kali possibility also makes sense to me as it's not just a depiction of a deity, but a rather distorted and evil depiction of said deity.Introducing the fearsome and iconic Mola Ram! This incredible creation brings to life one of the most memorable villains from the Indiana Jones franchise in a unique and collectible LEGO form. Moreover, 77013 Escape from the Lost Tomb contains the Ark of the Covenant, which is considered to be a real-world Christian artefact." First off, the films were made for the love of those old serials and for pure popcorn matinee movie entertainment. No more, no less...."

I'm cynical, but if you have moral principles, you shouldn't even present Star Wars...the most loved character has "only" massacred children....now I'm going to be lynched :) If I was Indian I'd love this set! When playing with it I could make the Indians win if I wanted to."

Pros:

FREE PLAY: While standing on the small platform above the lava, switch to a small-sized character and wriggle through the crawlspace to emerge on a higher ledge, where you'll find artifact piece #1. From here, you can jump directly down into the next part of the tunnel, skipping the handrail above the lava pool. That's his overall philosophy. He's happy to work as a professor (except grading papers lol), not live a high life and use small artifacts to help sell to the museum to fund his 'adventures'. Again he doesn't do it for monetary gain. But to protect these priceless artifacts from people who'll exploit those indigenous cultures. I know, we don't get ALL of this from the first movie, but his characters motivations gets a little more revealed in Temple and Crusade. Why did it have to be snakes? Finishing off our list with the final Lego Indiana Jones set you can currently buy first-hand, Escape from the Lost Tomb is perhaps the best-looking Indiana Jones set of them all. It features two epic Anubis statues, one of which can be toppled to collapse a wall, freeing Indiana Jones and Marion. There’s also a Mummy minifigure, who didn’t feature as a character in the film, but definitely will in any child’s usage of this set.

Fighter Plane Chase building set encourages children to recreate an exciting scene from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade film. Grab Indiana Jones and his father Professor Henry Jones Sr. and hop into the vintage convertible car to outrun the fighter plane and escape the chase. This set comes with 3 minifigures: Indiana Jones, his father Professor Henry Jones Sr. and a fighter pilot for adventures that await in this 387-piece playset. The entrance to this level is the same as for the 1st Story Level: the garage in the right corner of the Shanghai neighborhood. Since this is a vehicle level, it doesn't matter which two characters you use. Given the apparent lateness of this cancellation, one wonders whether a few sets might escape into stores. Maybe I'm an optimist, but I think it's just been delayed. And I think the statement doesn't say that because Lego's PR team demonstrably has no clue how to get ahead of controversies. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom has also been criticised for its portrayal of Indian culture since the film was released. Inspired by television serials of the early twentieth century, the film presents a rather negative caricature of India and one LEGO might choose to avoid altogether. To be honest I’m not surprised it was cancelled. The film is exciting but even as a child I remember it being the “nastiest” of the films, for all sorts of reasons. I’m not saying much new, but I’m very upset about the Temple of Doom. LEGO’s current lineup covers 2/5 movies, with no rumors to indicate there will be sets for Dial of Destiny upon release in the next 3 months. Images of the sets subsequently leaked and the new range has now been officially announced, with one significant omission, as 77014 The Temple of Doom has seemingly been cancelled. While LEGO product cancellations are relatively common, this example is unusual because this set was exhibited at Nuremberg Toy Fair and images have leaked online.
