Seasonal and exclusive minifigures make up a huge part of the modern LEGO advent calendars and 76231 Guardians of the Galaxy Advent Calendar is no exception. Most of the team is featured behind the doors of this set, including a new version of Drax, who has been one of the rarest members of the Guardians of the Galaxy in minifigure form. And here’s a look at Star-Lord’s alternate expression, which really, is just the default Christ Pratt face at this stage. In fact, instead of lots of moving vehicles and structures/buildings as there were in the 2021 City Calendar, there was a variety of different objects in the 2022 builds. The reason for this variety may be the country setting of this City Calendar but, in any case, it made for a much more entertaining and enjoyable building experience overall, though like with last year’s calendar there’s some builds where once completed I wasn’t sure what they were supposed to be.

My daughter is obsessed with stationery so what could be better than a stationery-themed Harry Potter advent calendar for teenage boys or girls? Even the 3-day ship feels like it should’ve been kept to 2 days at the max, but this has been quite poor, especially when you compare it against the Star Wars, Harry Potter and even Friends Advent Calendars which have largely been excellent. Here’s a closer look at the torso, which is a great exclusive, and one of the chief reasons I was looking forward to the Guardians of the Galaxy Advent Calendar.
For a Marvel Studios enthusiast, 76231 Guardians of the Galaxy Advent Calendar is a must-have for the 2022 holiday season and most days will have you remembering a scene from the Marvel Studios movies. However, that focus on Easter eggs and references limits its appeal somewhat, as those not as interested in the MCU might struggle to connect with the builds, preferring more festive inclusions for the holiday season.On Day 2 of the GOTG Advent Calendar, we get some gifts for Star-Lord, a wrapped present and a new walkman as well! References make up the majority of this model, making this advent calendar better suited to fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and specifically the Guardians of the Galaxy. Considering the huge audience that Marvel Studios has kept over the years and the widespread appeal of this team, that’s unlikely to be an issue and these deep-cut Easter eggs are something that Marvel enthusiasts will love to see with each passing day. Another beautiful calendar from Rituals, this Christmas Tree design is gorgeous and the advent calendar is a really indulgent treat for teens. It comes pre-wrapped in a luxurious blue box, complete with a ribbon, making it an ideal gift. Inside you can expect 24 little Rituals products, including gel-to-foam shower foam, body cream, and hand lotion. I love advent calendars that can be used year after year and I think teens can be quite sentimental about bringing out childhood favourites each year. LEGO Marvel Advent calendars have been a relatively new fixture, having started in 2021 with the Marvel Avengers Advent Calendar which was by all measures, a big success and one of the best ones last year.
Not bad from Day 10, and with so many cool and unique spaceship designs to draw from, I sure hope this won’t be the last micro-build we see!We were given this advent calendar by Lakeland Limited more than 12 years ago. We passed it along to a friend of the family and it’s still brought out every year in their house, and looks good as new. At least there’s a music theme going on, and Peter Quill does like his tunes. But it’s still consistently a let down, and doesn’t really scream GOTG or Christmas much. If you’re wondering why Drax is Green, it’s a nod to his comic book appearance, where he’s depicted as green instead of grey like in the James Gunn movies. This is a really nice nod to the character, that will delight Marvel comicbook fans, as it would’ve been really hard to get a green variant of Drax otherwise.
Day 15 is a Candy Cane. That’s it. A large Candy Cane decoration. I guess it’s Christmas after all, and there blow-up Candy Cane decorations in the GOTG Holiday Special, but this could pop out of the City or LEGO Friends Advent Calendar, and it wouldn’t be out of place at all. Opening up the lid of the present revealed a pair of headphones fitting snugly inside the crate. You actually get an extra pair which is a bit of a nice touch. Olivia – Of the core group of friends, Olivia is big on science and pink and blue are her favorite colors. Both her favorite colors and interests are reflected in her outfit, which features a 322 Bright Purple Dark Pink skirt and 140 Earth Blue Dark Blue leggings with tiny planets and stars on them. While I appreciate that all five of the girls have different interests, I’m not sad to see the one that’s interested in science and engineering featured in the set! Top 2 Minifigures
Looking at the excellent ship designs we’ve been getting in the Star Wars Advent Calendar , I don’t think it’s a lot to ask for a more sophisticated design that truly mimics and does The Guardians’ Ship design justice. On Day 9, we get an extremely festive and fun minifigure with Nebula in an ugly Christmas sweater! She also has a wrapped present, but the highlight is her Christmas sweater which has a crude Thanos knitted into it, as well as what I believe are Infinity Stone baubles on each side. I was unaware of Advent calendars until a few years ago. My parents were secular, and although my family celebrated Christmas in a broad sense, we focused exclusively on the "family" and "togetherness" parts of the equation, rather than on the religious aspects. Years later, I married a Catholic woman, and I learned more about the ceremonies and the traditions that lead up to Christmas. But it was only when we had our son that I learned about Advent calendars. Unfortunately, my calendar was mixed up with the wrong pieces and sets in nearly every window of the calendar which caused me to have to build the whole thing on the first night. With no spoilers, I’ll say this is maybe the most unique advent we’ve ever seen in regard to theme and builds. I’ll let everyone determine on their own if that’s a good thing or not. You’ve probably noticed that one member of the team wasn’t listed in that line-up, as Gamora is missing from 76231 Guardians of the Galaxy Advent Calendar following the events of Avengers: Endgame. If anything, it’s the only downside of this calendar taking inspiration from the MCU, in which the current version of Gamora has no memory of the Guardians.
