9. Common questions about docusate

Never take 2 doses at the same time. Never take an extra dose to make up for a forgotten one. What if I take too much? Taking an extra dose of docusate as a one-off is unlikely to harm you, but it is a good idea to drink lots of water. You may get diarrhoea and stomach pain, but this will usually get better within 1 or 2 days. Adults and children aged 8 years and over: Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose is: 1-2 sachets daily dissolved in liquid, preferably taken as a single dose in the morning. Within the dose recommendation the dose can be adjusted to your individual needs. It may range from one sachet every other day to two sachets per day. If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor, our Rightdose pharmacists or nurse. This includes any possible side effects not listed in this leaflet.
