While the most recognisable fossils come from the preserved bones of ancient animals, their activity can also occasionally be preserved. The first tour of Sucre Dinosaur Park will take you around the gardens and introduce you to the life size reconstructed dinosaurs. There’s a big sign saying Parque Cretacico but it’s not obvious which way to go. In fact it actually points you in the wrong direction! You are advised to wear hiking shoes, but trainers are fine. Just don’t go in flip flops or open toe sandals. If the ground is too hard, the resulting print would be very shallow, show very limited detail or not form at all.

For the dinosaur mega fans out there, these are the specific dinosaurs that are featured at Parque Cretacico: A park winds its way from the down the coast museum to the footprints. Life-sized dinosaur statues, playgrounds, picnic areas and a maze can be found along the route and the scenery is supposedly stunning.
A step back in time
And so what was once flat clay ground is now a vertical limestone cliff, almost 3000m above sea-level. It’s located behind the cement factory premises, so you’ll need to walk past the main factory buildings and up a short but steep hill.
