About this deal

After graduating with a first class degree in advertising, graphic design and illustration in 1997, Jim Smith was spotted by the owner of a small coffee shop chain and brought in to fill the walls of their flagship store with his paintings. We understand that buying kids books can be expensive. That's why we offer a wide range of box sets and series at affordable prices, making it easier for parents, teachers, and libraries to access quality books for children. That is until Darren Darrenofski - the boy with the oh-so horrible crocodile face - joins the school and starts to ruin his life. Barry Loser was really cool - or 'keel' as his TV hero Future Ratboy would say - until Darren Darrenofski, a crocodile-faced fart burper, joined his school and started to tease him and call him names. Soon, Barry loses his coolness and becomes a 'loser'. Nothing seems to go right for him and he blames Darren for ruining his life. But then a school talent competition gives Barry and his friend Bunky an opportunity for a funny sketch, as well as a chance to fool Darren.

I would really recommend this book. If you like hilarious, amazing and outstanding stories this book is just for you. There’s a FIFA Football World Cup coming up in case you didn’t notice (this review was written a week prior to the Russia World Cup 2018). That means there are lots of tie-in football-related books getting released. This is one of them. If you don’t believe me then look at the opening sentence: “Ever since the World Cup started, everyone in school has been comperleeterly into football.” But Barry has a plan: he’ll just have to become a billionaire inventor and make enough money to buy another one, before his life is comperleeterly over … Written and illustrated by Jim Smith, the series has been awarded the Royal Dahl Funny Prize for the Funniest Book for I am Still Not a Loser. With silly jokes, pranks, funny drawings and plenty of burps and farts, the Barry Loser books are perfect for fans of Captain Underpants, Tom Gates and Diary of a Wimpy Kid. In the first book, Barry has had enough of being a loser and wants to prove he’s a Total Winner, but when his parents ban him from gaming he has to think outside of the box . . . Barry also has a new cat called French Fries – the keelest cat ever amen. I've never minded that my name's Barry Loser because my coolness has always cancelled it out, but ever since Darren Darrenofski joined school with his horrible little crocodile face he's been completely ruining my life about it.'The book is funny how it puts, essentially, a football coach into the environs of a school. It is also funny how the kids all have Tamagotchi-style toys that need looking after, but that actually keep them busy as if they real-life babies. For example kids are really sleepy coming into school because these things have been crying all night needing to be looked after.
