About this deal

I prefer the illustrations with their grim and gritty vibe. The models, in surprisingly contrast, are so clean and colourful that they almost look out of place. I know, I’ve just said the real objects felt less accurate than the illustrations, and that can only be the theatre of the mind roleplayer in me speaking. Since I've been painting Battletech Miniatures of late, and I haven't had a chance to peruse the Stargrave book, I wonder how well Battlemechs would fit in as either remotes, robotic units, cyborgs, or exotic battle armor.

I'm going to splurge and get a .stl file from Hero Forge to be a Porigota. I have some scenario ideas and am going to need a few of them so it makes sense for me. Love Magmites - Bile worm a touch too phallic for my tastes! I prefer my giant worms with teeth and Dune-esque wormy styles (so the Reaper Purple Worm is great) Is stargrave basically a stand alone game system a bit like warriors of erewhon? In case you've not played Frostgrave, the fantasy predecessor to Stargrave, Stargrave is a minis agnostic skirmish game. There are official minis, including 3 plastic box sets of PYO [pose your own] figures. The new plastics are compatible with the older Frostgrave and Ghost Archipelago plastics. You can play one-off games but the fun in both systems is a campaign. In Frostgrave, only the Wizard gained Exp, and the Apprentice was basically an inferior copy of the Wizard. In Stargrave, you choose a Captain and First Mate; they can have the same Speciality, or different ones, and they each can gain experience. The Captain rolls to activate Powers normally, and the First Mate at a penalty. (It's a bit more detailed than that, but that will do for now.) Super simple scheme loosely based on rainforest frog colouration. Not trying to win prizes with these thingsI’ve done a bit more searching. I think a displacer beast will do well As a warp hound. This one is suitably alien looking That is a lot of damn dirty space apes! Now you just need to print a big oblong... actually, given that the thing should be totally featureless, maybe just a Sheet of something would Do Frostgrave Gnoll with Stargrave arms, Stargrave trooper, female head Stargrave trooper, Stargrave trooper male head, Maelstrom's Edge arm, Maelstrom's Edge Broken with Stargrave arm

Stargrave: Power Cards - Osprey Publishing

We've been eagerly awaiting the release of Stargrave: Science Fiction Wargames in the Ravaged Galaxy, due from Osprey in April. The game is designed by Joseph A. McCullough, of Frostgrave fame. Probably going to save me hours printing it instead of trying to find a suitable Rhinocerous model and sculpting hair on it. For a start, Stargrave does not need any more money from you or any more models. Yes, there are some official minis from North Star but this game is not designed to lure you into the investment cycle of maintaining the best army by buying the latest troop release.

Old Bones #3 is in the final stages of production. This one is basically an all Frostgrave& Ghost Archipelago issue. Actually, Old Bones #4 is not running far behind! Personally, I don't see why the captain and/or first-mate can't also be robots. I'm unfamiliar with the lore or mechanics of Stargrave, but SF is full of intelligent and self-aware robots. They might be autonomous machines sent to explore where humans can't tread, runaway androids seeking freedom, the remnants of an alien civilization from the distant past, or machines that destroyed their masters and now have an antipathy towards all organic life. https://m.facebook.com/warminipainting/photos/a.2143174162415794/3100585983341269/?type=3&source=57&__tn__=EH-R

In the chapters, though, there are photographs of painted tabletop models. Many of these are the figures you can buy North Star. Inspiration doesn’t have to come from sci-fi, and when someone suggested this idea to me it absolutely had to be included. The nine members of the fellowship from The Lord of the Rings…. but in space!Free file off Thingiverse that I printed. Well, I printed all of the models in the pic, but a mixture of files I have bought and from various free sources. The robot thingy was free. I was enraptured with the crazy hodge-podge of sci-fi trappings, only to be disappointed at how little they really mattered. Yes the game isn’t onlya re-skin of Frostgrave, but one must question how much its thematic change really matters. These are the elite of the pirate soldiers. They wear Combat Armour and carry a Carbine. Their stats are extremely impressive. To go toe-to-toe with them, you are looking at a 150 Credit miniature that costs you 50 Credits a game to maintain. That is substantial. You might want to gang up or run if you encounter one of these figures.
