About this deal

Extron Rxi boxes will automatically convert RGsB to either RGBs or RGBHV, without any intervention at all. In most cases, you’d just add this as the last piece of equipment before your display. This can be pretty complicated and confusing, so I’d suggest this as an expert option. I bought component cable (original Sony) and the picture is better than RGB. Progressive scan is available both with games and DVDs. DVDs in prog. scan mode look great, but games are not as good. The text in games is not sharp and there some other defects during game play. However if you want any progressive output from your PS2, component is the only real way to go. RGB(i.e VGA) is possible but somewhat problematic - official cables are hard to find, unofficial solutions are... well... *unofficial* (and so support might be patchy, not all games work, etc.)

Some PS1 games have glitches when played on a PS2. Also, the later model PS2 Slim’s listed above replaced some of the PS1-compatible hardware with software emulation and should be avoided for PS1 use. Here’s a list of games with compatibility issues : http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PlayStation_games_incompatible_with_PlayStation_2 Hi guys, I have exactly the same problem and came to this forum hoping someone might have an answer and low and behold there is a thread on the very problem. Good forum this.As I was tired of tinkering with PCSX2, getting random bugs here and there, and changing settings from game to game, to relive my best memories, I decided to get a real PS2.

On the ps2's menu the component cable makes it look clearer than it dose on the av cable but for some reason on some games the component cable makes lettering look worse. Its not always lettering either sometimes the actual game looks worse with this component cable. Finally, after an epic journey, we are able to support the original PlayStation! The HD Retrovision PS1 adapter converts the male 9-pin mini-DIN connector on the Genesis YPbPr cable to a male PlayStation 12-pin connector.  There's an option in the PS2 menu that says something like "Audio out" and you can set to Optical or Component (or "Digital audio output " On, Off, I don't remember quite right), you could try that. This adapter converts the male 9-pin mini-DIN connector on the Genesis YPbPr cable to a male Saturn 10-pin mini-DIN connector.  Here are the solutions I have tried (when technically feasible) on a TCL 4K 65" TV, a Samsung 40" 1080p TV and a Samsung CRG9 monitor.PlayStation 2 consoles output both Component Video (YPbPr) and RGB. Both are equal in quality, but component video is easier to use in all resolutions with the PS2. More info below: RetroTINK 2x M– Combining the component video cables linked above with the TINK-M will allow use of all the PS2’s resolutions, with optional scanlines and deinterlacing of 480i.

As a connection Component offers less degredation of the signal and even has the bandwidth for 720p or 1080i signals.Progressive Scan will run across a component input and this is de-interfaced and upto 4 times the resolution (change your pc monitor between 640x480 and 1024x768 to see a similar difference). HDMI Cables: At the moment, no plug-and-play HDMI cable supports all resolutions from the PS2. In almost all cases, if you’re gaming on a flat-panel, it’s best to just use a component video cable and scaler (links below). SCPH-7500X& SCPH-7700X have some issues with both PS1 and PS2 games, but aren’t as bad as the 9000x. These cables are widely used and available in the market. But what do they do exactly? All you know is if you hook them up, you can play your VCR, CDs, and DVDs on your TV. How does that happen? Well, all that you will find out in this article.
