About this deal

Self-adjusting height adjustment mechanism (somewhat comparable to that of my AKG K701). Likes to pull my hair out, though (at least as badly as my Koss Porta Pro, probably even worse). Essentially styling and build quality are excellent, and the changes can be seen in the materials for the earcups and the sound signature. Pricing and Availability The 99 Classics are taking headphone design to a new level by combining modern with hand crafted design, using natural materials and focusing on delivering the best premium sound.

Meze Audio - Sound. Comfort. Design. True high-end.

Build quality is top notch. The headphones feel solid and the simple, all-mechanic build (no glue is used) make them appear sturdy and resistant. Meze nailed it when it comes to materials and there’s no part of the 99 Classics that feel cheap, flimsy or inadequate. Warm fundamental range transition into the upper fundamentals; therefore warm, lush lower mids without becoming overly muddy or muffled sounding.Let me first start by thanking Andy for this opportunity to spend some quality time with the Meze Liric. It has been an absolute pleasure. Straight up, these are some seriously stunning-looking headphones. I have to salute whoever created this design from an aesthetical standpoint alone; they are one of the best-looking headphones I have tried to date. Subtle but very visible markings to differentiate left from right, aside from print the design is one-way. Whole design is intentionally understated, so things aren't meant to pop out & be crazy visual like (their) other cans.

99 Neo | Meze Audio - Sound. Comfort. Design. True high-end.

Once I bought a very used pair of dt770, everything looked genuine (drivers cabling etc) I'm big fan of beyerdynamic but I didn't like them, they hit hard and too dry and in general the sound was dry and mid highs and top highs a bit piercing. I have heard the meze for like 5 minutes in audio show and I liked them better, the sound is warm and more rounded but with good bite. A bit rolled off on the highs but the mids feel more sweeter and soundstage cant recall well but is also more piercing cold and focused on the 770's and more bloomed, expanded and warm in the meze's. First of all a great thanks to Headphone Zone to get such a great product within my reach and to Yash who helped me decide between Meze & VModa as a gift to my wife. Although a bit pricey, but worth all the money, every single paise. This is the best headphone I've had until now. You hear sounds which you might not have heard normally and it does let you hear how it was meant to be heard. I was interested to see if the Liric would unseat the XC as my go-to closed can, so this review will be based on that question. The product is returned in original condition (with brand’s/manufacturer's box, MRP tag intact, user I only give full stars. My ranking/scoring system does not necessarily follow the norm and is about as follows:

Right from the start, they offer a very classy experience. You have the product image on the front side, and honestly, who can't say this isn't a beautiful headphone? They also make big mention of the awards they have won since the release of the Classics in the way of the respective outlet’s badges. The structure of separate head rest and the steel band does at times move differently when your head shakes and it might just put you off sometimes. For me that was the only niggle i faced. Thanks to the lightweight construction (260g without the cable) and a great headband construction Meze 99 Classics sits on your head very comfortably and it’s a pleasure to use, even for a long period of time.

Meze Audio 99 Classics review | What Hi-Fi?

Meze are better about bass, mids and highs, they are low ohm and so you can use with anything, they are more light and better built, they are smaller. I sold dt770 and i use very often my meze that i simply loveThe treble distinguishes the compared headphones the most. It’s nearly impossible to find a source that will make the highs of HE-R9 unpleasant but definitely when comparing them in terms of reproduced details Liric is far ahead in front of HiFiMan headphones. The Romanian-based Meze is a brand that has solidified their place in the high-end headphone ecosystem. While their range of headphones may he a tad polarizing (with the tuning of the Empyrean being at the forefront of that), there are nearly-undeniable truths about Meze's devotion to the craft; these are very well-built, finely constructed, comfortable and attractive headphones. Antonio's dedication to the hobby and to the industry is equally undeniable. Really strong bass elevation with only moderate roll-off towards the sub-bass. Lots of impact and punch.

As my scalp is very sensitive, I find it hard to keep most full-size headphones on my head for more than half an hour – but that’s not true for the Meze 99 Classics. Thanks to the suspension system and its softness, I can keep using them for even three or four hours at a time. Comfort is a very subjective matter, but if my experience is of any indication the 99 Classics are really comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. That’s mostly due to the fact that the adjustable headband is large and relatively soft, thus distributing the headphones’ weight on a larger surface and easing the pressure on the scalp, though the weight of just 260 g surely have an impact, too. Well done, Meze! This is not a Bass heavy headphone and hence anyone looking for the extra boom might not like it, but if you enjoy music, you will love this headphone. Meze, however, felt to be a more sleazy attempt at capitalizing on the growing trend of people willing to spend ever larger amounts of their hard-earned cash on headphones. It is encapsulated in grandeur but doesn’t boom. These are the kind of headphones where you don't want a visceral, sharp bass but a smoother one that compliments the midrange's slightly warm tones. The difference in the midrange is also big, yet again HiFiMan reproduces it in a very smooth and warm way, whilst Meze creates more texture. The vocals from HE-R9 are rich and natural but it’s definitely more recessed when compared to Liric. The low end is not what I would call technically perfect, but in the overall tuning context, it works very well to round off the 99 Classics sound. You get bass that extends fairly deep but not into the bass-heavy territory. The only problem I see for some people is that the ear pads are not the deepest, so if you have large ears it could result in some slight problems with fitting your entire ear inside, or you can end up touching the driver cover. Not happening to me, but I have rather small ears and I’ve heard that some users had this kind of problem. It wasn’t a deal breaker in any of this cases, but it’s surely worth mentioning.
