About this deal

Amusingly he annouced this intention as soon as they are off the ground, causing factionalism, panic and fatalism among his fellow passengers, and a stern response from Stanley Baker’s avuncular no-nonsense pilot. They usually last three or four hours and are relatively narrow - typically around 30 miles across. They can also be used when the impact of the weather could be much more severe – and even endanger life – but is less likely. The ream of character sub-plots are excellently performed by the huge cast, but it's Attenborough and Baker who shine brightest. The former has Tilley as hollowed and tragic, a man tipped over the edge, pain seeping from every pore. The latter has Captain Bardow as silky smooth, calm during crisis, it's an elegant portrayal by one of Britain's most under valued actors. Elsewhere, Endfield does a marvellous job of threading so many character strands together, making one successful whole and he deftly paces it and brings it in under 90, exposition free, minutes. The lovely title song is called Jetstream (a working title for the film), not Jet Storm as is listed on IMDb, and it's warbled by Marty Wilde (lyrics by Endfield) who also features in the cast. The Met office has warned this rare weather phenomenon could form later on Friday when the full force of Storm Eunice hits.

The TV Guide critic wrote, "... thanks to an outstanding cast, this air-disaster film manages to limp to a landing with its 'thriller' status intact." [4] The Radio Times applauded "... a star turn for Attenborough, who brings a convincing complexity to the role of bomber and bereft father." [5] References [ edit ] Sting jets were only officially recognised after the Great Storm of 1987 (which impacted the UK)- where wind speeds reached 115mph - and have only happened a handful of times since. The cold conveyor belt - a strong stream of cold air - pulls down into the storm ahead of the warm conveyor belt - also known as a dry intrusion. The Met Office issues weather warnings when severe weather is likely and has the potential to disrupt day-to-day life. An amber warning covers England and Wales until 9pm today, while northern parts of England, southwest Scotland and Northern Ireland have a slightly less severe, yellow warning lasting from 7am to 6pm.Wind gusts in the most exposed coastal areas could exceed 90mph, the Met Office said, while an amber warning for gusts up to 80mph covers the whole of England from 5am to 9pm. The host often praises the pilots and ground teams for their hard work and expertise in landing the aircraft safely in difficult conditions, while viewers’ hearts must go out to those onboard.

They only cover the parts of the country affected and last for a period of hours or sometimes days. Most often they are for rain, wind, snow and heat. Video shows the aftermath of a holiday jet that skidded off a runway in Leeds, after Storm Babet caused wet and windy conditions. Leeds Bradford Airport said it was working with emergency services to evacuate passengers from the plane safely. And neither do I want to imply that this is movie is anywhere near as glamorous as the movie version of that book, but it does have an interesting cast. In the Time Out review, John Pym saw Jet Storm as, "A British prototype for the Airport disaster movies of the '60s and '70s." He went on to note, "... like its later supersonic counterparts, Endfield's film is naive and contrived, but not without interest as the alarmed passengers soon divide into groups: reactionary (advocating torture) and liberal (patience and persuasion)." [3]

This mold was redecoed into the BotCon 2002 exclusive Cyclonus. It was also planned for a Universe redeco of unknown name (see below). Jetstorm was one of three Vehicon generals created by Galvatron from refitted Vehicon drones, and animated using the sparks of his former minions, Doomshot, Krunix, and Nucleon, following the Vehicon Apocalypse. The Inexorable March Jetstorm is in actuality a programmed shell personality given life by the spark of the Maximal Silverbolt. A red warning is the Met Office's most severe weather warning, meaning dangerous weather is expected and you should take action to keep yourself and others safe.

I think this guy’s gonna struggle. He’s all over the place. Here we go, here we go. Easy, easy. He’s down!” he cried. The cold conveyor brings its cold air from higher in the atmosphere and from being in a cold air mass. Sometimes it has help from rain and snow as they fall into it and evaporate. This change from liquid to gas requires heat, which is removed from the conveyor, cooling it further. Now we have even colder air falling along the conveyor, speeding up as it does so, like a rollercoaster taking the first drop.Jet Storm" is an excellent blend of excitement and intense suspense, the sort of film that Britain did so well. The crew of a transatlantic flight discover that one of their passengers has a bomb on the plane and is going to blow it up. Disruption will likely involve travel delays, loss of electricity and water supplies, and minor damage to buildings. It was surprising to see the obviously suited Canadian married couple of Barbara Kelly (who I had only ever seen in the 1950s TV panel game "What's My Line") and her husband Bernard Braden (tv's "The Braden Beat"), acting together as a divorcing couple.Stanley Baker keeps impeccably calm as the airliner captain and there is a rather touching romance between Virginia Maskell and the American co-pilot.The "Brummy" actor who plays the hit-and run driver played a very similar role in "The Night My Number Came Up" with Sir Michael Redgrave.I had never seen Marty Wilde in a film acting role, of course playing a pop star, and noted he composed the opening popular theme music. Jet streams can be spotted by satellites when the end of the cold conveyor belt - a strong stream of cold air- forms a hook-shaped cloud that resembles the sting of a scorpion's tail.

They are likely to mean complete disruption to travel, loss of power and water, and significant damage to homes and businesses that is likely to endanger life.Pete Sinclair stated at the BotCon 2016 retrospective panel that the two toys he most regretted not being able to produce were a redeco of Thrilling 30 Springer into Shattered Glass Rodimus Prime and a redeco of Thrilling 30 Armada Starscream into Beast Machines Jetstorm (employing a retooled head and legs). [3] The latter concept was eventually illustrated in art for the Beast Wars: Uprising incarnation of Jetstorm, as can be seen above. He added: “Eunice looks like it may be able to produce a sting jet, a narrow, focused region of extremely strong winds embedded within the larger area of strong winds and lasting just a few hours.” passengers arriving and entering on a plane flying from London to New York City. From the opening what looked like several different passengers with several different characteristics from a young couple to older couple to middle age, similar to 1932 "Grand Hotel" interacting with one another. All is well what appear to be a routine flight flying over sea until two different passengers Mrs. Emma Morgan (Sybil Thorndike) and Binky Meadows (Harry Secombe) sitting behind a couple overhearing a man, Ernest Tilley (Richard Attenborough) telling his wife, Carol Tilley (Mai Zetterling) wanting revenge against one persons actions taking his grievances to the rest of the passengers. And by the time the captain of the plane Capt. Barlow went to have a talk with him it was soon discovered that he planted a bomb somewhere onto the plane, without any indication on where or how it was going to explode, creating mixed emotions amongst the passengers. And that it was the result of a single person who was not held accountable for killing Ernest Tilley's baby daughter. Putting the plane as well as the rest of the passengers in a complicated situation as they are flying ever sea. Relative to the size of the storm they are very narrow - usually only around 30 miles across - and tend to last just three or four hours. It's not easy to catch up with this marvelous little film, but DO NOT pass up any chance you get. It's a real little gem, which manages to live up to some very high aspirations.
