About this deal

The purpose of using salt in fermenting is to keep away the unwanted bacteria, make vegetables crunchy and crisp, add flavor and preserve the vitamins.

Hi Melissa,I would like to know if this is going to stop my dog from doing his business on the grass near the vinegar solution.I know dogs don't care for the smell of vinegar.See what happened is I have a small yard ,and grass doesn’t grow well at all in my yard ,too much shade .So I cover it with pine straw ,but don’t you know that some grass is popping through the pine straw so I sprayed the vinegar solution .Now I am thinking he will not make around there? What are your thoughts? Our property is infested with dandelions and my kid is very allergic to them. In addition, we have allergies to most fragranced products, including Dawn dish soap. I have tried using Seventh Generation Free & Clear dish soap and it just solidifies into stringy goop when mixed with vinegar. The best time of day to apply this product is during full sunlight when temperatures will remain above 65°F. Application should be done on dry plants, so no rain in last 24 hours and no rain expected in the next 24 hours. *Reminder to turn off sprinklers.* I’m wondering though, do it make a difference if the potatoes I’m using have been grated and have had most of the starch removed? Or would the 2% salt brine still apply? Dawn Dish Detergent - acts as a surfactant, which reduces the surface tension of the mixture and lets it absorb into the plant rather than bead up on the surface

Occupational Safety and Health Guideline for Acetic Acid. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Can i assume that a 15 % brining rate would have a salt concentration of 567.76 g’s to a gallon of H2O? I need to run tests on brining Napa cabbage from 15-20%. I used your chart and doubled the 7.5 % to hit 15 %. I have a bumper crop of sunchokes and was going to try fermenting them. What percentage brine would you suggest? Once you get to temp, start stretching and folding the dough with a spoon, it will be hot. If there is any leftover liquid/whey pour it into the pot.Time to remove as much whey as possible. Using very clean hands or gloves, grab the curd and cup it in your hands and gently squeeze. This will press out the whey. Allow the whey to fall into the bowl and then discard it into the big pot of whey.
