For sewers with bad eyesight, or even just for those of us who get frustrated with threading, this is a real point of value. Money well spent. It’s is a decent sewing machine and excellent for beginners. Even without the instructions, there are mini diagrams on the machine telling you how to put the thread in. I particularly like the self-threading needle attachment as my mother finds it hard to thread the needle. The DVD that comes with it shows you the basics, and it explains the process clearly. I only got this machine because I was able to buy it with monthly installments, but it turned out to be the best decision as it works a dream. There are a few features we would have liked to have seen on the BrotherST371HD to really bump up the user experience and convenience factors.

Of course, with a reasonably priced machine there comes a few downsides. Whether or not these issues are a dealbreaker will depend entirely on why you need to use a sewing machine. If you’re looking for a reliable machine that gets the job done, the Brother ST371HD is the sewing machine for you. Aside from sewing machines, Brother have a long history of producing an array of home and office products, including printers, scanners and vinyl makers. But, nevertheless, it’s a neat little machine that’s surprisingly light for its heavy duty sewing skills. Used all the features as listed. This machine can do minute sewing to heavy-duty. I used for a lot of Velcro, and it worked just fine. Did not try jeans cloth but guess it works. The design is also super cool. The cover is also provided, and that’s quite handy; all things are built into it, so you don’t have to worry.

A: I already had a lightweight Brother. I bought the heavy-duty as I was making furniture covers in heavy material. Can’t see why you couldn’t use the heavy-duty for normal sewing. It’s great for heavy duty sewing as well as your usual everyday needs — whether that’s hemming your favorite jeans, sewing a Christmas play costume or trying to merge together outdoor fabrics. Another couple of things which may deter sewing beginners from theBrotherST371HD is the fact that you will need to set the thread tension yourself by turning the dial at the top of the machine. Love this machine! Hadn’t sewed in over 17 years, and even then, I wasn’t advanced at all. So, this machine is great for beginners and very sturdy. I like the variety of stitches and it is incredibly easy to switch and change the width and length. Highly recommend!

There’s no stop/start button and sewing must instead be started by moving the feet. This may take a little getting used to for beginners, although shouldn’t prove too much of a problem (even if it is a little inconvenient). It’s great on heavyweight fabrics and multiple layers, plus is easy to use and ideal for all experience levels. Threading it is a dream; you don’t even have to bring up the bottom thread, piece of cake, threading the needle, really good once you get the hang of the needle threader. The true beauty of this machine is the stitch length and stitch width are both adjustable, even better, easy-peasy buttonholes, yep, that’s sorted with one-step buttonholes. I can recommend this machine to any beginner; it’s better than some of the brother’s cheaper machines.
