About this deal

The Kruleboyz delivered an absolutely devastating Fight phase and killed a pair of Vindictors – mostly thanks to the new 6s equals Mortal Wounds rule. It comes with a Celestant on foot, who is good, but not as good as Vandus Hammerdaddy that comes in the Thunderstrike box. it only has five liberators, a hilariously unplayable understrength unit of paladins (They give you two, it’s a five-man unit). Then lastly, 3 of those angel dudes that you can’t go anywhere without tripping over. Overall, it’s a good starting point with a decent number of miniatures representing roughly a third of your army. Shooting. Cities of Sigmar dominate the shooting phase with hefty ranged options in every battlefield role, and some of these options are both fast and durable. I am going to run you through a few options to get started in the faction and give you a solid base for a competitive army. SCE start collecting boxes are out of print now, they were the SCE half of the starter kits in 1st and then 2nd edition. But they are one half of the current AoS Starter sets and we will be looking at a list built from the Extremis or Harbinger Starter Sets. These lists are intended to be competitive but might not quite reach the top table. I won’t be featuring Vanguard Raptors, Fulminators or Storm Drakes. Or not yet (read to the end).

Each of the Cities is tied to a different Mortal Realm, and your army must be from the same Realm as its parent City. The rules for Mortal Realms are covered in General’s Handbook 2020, as are updated points values and so on. Keeping up to date with the General’s Handbook is advised no matter what army you play, but moreso when an army benefits from generic Endless Spells and realm rules as much as Cities of Sigmar do. Starting Your Army Probably my favourite model of the new Thunderstrike line these are meant to be a bodyguard unit but it is a unique version of bodyguard. At the start of the battle you nominate a unit that they will protect. Everytime a wound would be taken by the unit they are protecting you roll a dice, on a 1 or 2 the wound goes through to the Hero they are protecting, 3 or 4 to the Praetors and on a 5 or 6 it is negated. Here we’ll talk about some sample lists you can make that focus on each of the chambers I mentioned as a way to build from a particular boxed set starting point. These are based on an average 2,000-point game. Strike Chamber These returning heroes have everything, stalwart infantry, Heroes that not only buff but also slap pretty hard, mortal wound shooting and if you want cavalry then they do it right – with dragons. Once the Thunderstrike Brotherhood are battle-ready (the inclusion of each unit’s warscroll in the box ensures they are just so), which at eighteen miniatures is not too strenuous a task, the entire range awaits. Sequitors and Evocators are a logical stepping stone from the Start Collecting! box: throw in some cloth robes, begin working on edge highlighting and, of course, shading. The entire Stormcast Eternals faction is suddenly within the grasp of the novice painter. Stormcast Eternals: Thunderstrike Brotherhood – Price and Availability

The Start Collecting of this faction was not available for long before being replaced by the Vanguard box (you can probably still find it on third party retailers and it contains good value thanks to the centrepiece and its multiple assembly options). Finally our hammer unit, these beasts cause mortal wounds when they land, charge and even die. And they hit very hard. WIth the Lord Imperatant on the Field you can place them just over 7” from an enemy unit and they can reroll the charge giving them an almost ⅔ chance of making the charge. Even after playing through all the Warrior Starter Set Battleplans, I enjoyed trying them out again with the Harbinger version.

You get five Vindictors in the Warrior set, but each model can be assembled in one of two ways. Here’s the picture from our Dominion review, which shows each Vindictor partnered up with their variant build. An incredibly detailed pair of models. but there are no customisation options available here. Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Harbinger Starter Set – Sprue G – PraetorsStart Collecting Stormcast Eternals Thunderstrike Brotherhood The Thunderstrike Brotherhood box in all its blue-and-gold glory. Scions of the Storm lets you place units in reserve and bring them on to the table at the end of any of your movement phases (so Turn 1).

Designed to be used on the tabletop during gameplay, these neat cards are festooned with epic photographs of the figures to which they pertain, and have all the appropriate statistics printed on the reverse. The Vindictors, with a Bravery stat of 7 (+1 thanks to the Banner Bearer), a roll of 2 remained resolute in spite of their two losses. With all the objectives contested – bar the one the Stormcast Eternals had abandoned – no-one was awarded any points. The first Battleplan is designed to teach you the fundamentals of charging and fighting in the course of a game of Age of Sigmar. It pits two Gutrippaz against a long Vindictor-Prime. With the board set up to the specifications outlined in the book, we were ready to begin. So, let’s see if we can work out what all this is. Please bear in mind that this is a really low-resolution image so It’s hard to make out some specific units. The current AoS starter sets offer 2 armies, SCE and Kruleboyz Orcs as well as a core rule book and a special campaign book. The Extremis set adds some useful Terrain pieces. For SCE the set provides: Slot

The rules in the Dominion box add a new allegiance ability for the Stormcast, representing their heroic sacrifice and their explosive return to heavens.
