Still, the most valuable of these are the 1974 and 1975 uncirculated five pence coins, worth €6.00. The coin did enter circulation, however, which means that the likelihood of encountering a highly graded version is significantly lower. None of these were ever released to the public, only directly from the mint to collectors in BU (“Brilliant Uncirculated”) sets, but a few have turned up over the years. Striking of pennies for circulation restarted in 1961, and ran through in enormous numbers to 1967. Somewhat overshadowed the "D" mint mark - 1928 Denver variety is quietly difficult to find in higher grades. With less attention, premiums are moderate. Both however are in demand to complete date and mint mark collections of wheat pennies. In 1922 a rare variety is 'Reverse of 1927' which has three noticeable features where (1927 type on right of image) the teeth on reverse are longer, the thumb on the shield is shorter, and the shield is further away from the edge so creating a longer horizon.
