About this deal

In 1913 the obverse changed slightly, with the lower stop of the colon between GRA BRITT, originally William Henry James Blakemore (1871, in West Midlands Birmingham, England – 1945) was an English engraver, and medallist at the Royal Mint London. During his long career with the Royal Mint William Blakemore was the craftsman for the engraving of master dies for the Royal Mint London, and other Royal Mint branches, like the Royal Canadian Mint. He also engraved the designs for the first Australian coins of 1910.William Henry James Blakemore (1871-1945) was an English engraver and medallist at the Royal Mint London. Still, the most valuable of these are the 1974 and 1975 uncirculated five pence coins, worth €6.00. Ten pence In this case, the mintage for the 1921 penny was around 129 million – 129,717,693 to be exact – which is an exceptionally large amount. The coin did enter circulation, however, which means that the likelihood of encountering a highly graded version is significantly lower. None of these were ever released to the public, only directly from the mint to collectors in BU (“Brilliant Uncirculated”) sets, but a few have turned up over the years. If there is one thing to learn about George V pennies, it is that the specification of the coin changed quite frequently. TIP: Whatever you do, don’t clean your coins, no matter how dirty they look! During his reign from 1910 to 1936, there were several different versions produced not only by different mints but also in varying metal compositions. Striking of pennies for circulation restarted in 1961, and ran through in enormous numbers to 1967. Somewhat overshadowed the "D" mint mark - 1928 Denver variety is quietly difficult to find in higher grades. With less attention, premiums are moderate. Both however are in demand to complete date and mint mark collections of wheat pennies. In 1922 a rare variety is 'Reverse of 1927' which has three noticeable features where (1927 type on right of image) the teeth on reverse are longer, the thumb on the shield is shorter, and the shield is further away from the edge so creating a longer horizon. Irish Free State (1922–1937) became independent state (from British Empire) and was established in 1922. right of the shield. All four die combinations (1A,1B,2A,2B) are known, with the 1B and 2A varieties being scarcest.
