In 1911 the Derbyshire Courier printed a series of articles which were titled “Derbyshire Farms and Farmers”, each of which concentrated on a particular farm of note and featured an interview with the farmer. Article No.3 of the series was written about Outseats Farm and John Nix, who had, by then, been the tenant farmer for over forty years. It contained details of the farm and also of the Shire Horses owned by John at the time.
