Nothing comes free, Fable. We both know that surviving means sometimes doing things that haunt you.” Fablehouse is a gorgeously magical and heartfelt adventure in a richly detailed historical setting that more people need to know about. Swinging of a pendulum...that's what my feelings were like while reading...once I get a little relax...the script changes and we get to the extreme part with so many overwhelming emotions and non stop tears.

No child will be forgotten on their watch. Heather and friends realise they have been specially chosen for this quest. Not knowing my dad and that whole thing of the white women, the American GI’s and all of these brown babies, there were thousands of them shipped across different orphanages.I found it really moving. The book delves off into that cliffy from book one, but we all know how brilliant Pepoer is at pulling at the heartstrings . You will be drowning in a sesspool of pain while Kassen tries to survive the horror and torment he experienced while trying to escape Storymakers control. Poor Gemma has her work cut out for her as she experiences sides of Kas that even the poor guy doesn’t remember. The boy lost, the sweetness and the innocence just melts your heart. Kassen is one true survivor. I cannot wait for some time and space to dream. I’m looking forward to going to galleries and exhibitions and being inspired and coming up with original ideas for my next children’s book. I’d like to adapt some of my short stories into short films or see if they might work on stage. I’d like to keep learning and growing. Fable is definitely a slow burn. It's quite character-driven, but I did enjoy my time learning about Fable, West and the other characters on the Marigold. There's a nice found-family element to it that I liked quite a bit as well.

As I mentioned earlier, the world was the only redeeming quality of this book. I felt it was well-developed, and it was something new to the typical YA stories. Fablehouse is a children's home like no other. Heather and her friends who live here have magic at their fingertips. The children have a powerful friend in Pal, an Arthurian knight who teaches them to harness the powers they find within themselves. But not everyone the children meet is on their side. This reminded me a lot of Daughter of the Pirate King. There's actually more than a few similarities, although I do feel this story feels a bit more mature than that one. I do think if you enjoyed that book, you'll enjoy this one as well. The foursome love to explore the wild woodlands and high clifftops around Fablehouse, and call themselves The Roamers. While visiting the cairn one day, they discover a dark-skinned man, Pal, who they learn was one of King Arthur's knights of the Round Table, who guarded the doorway to an underground realm, Fae Feld; however the doorway has been breached and the Fae are now at large and are turning the staff and children of Fablehouse and the nearby village into Changelings. Heather and the rest of the Roamers must descend into Fae Feld and try to save their friends from the evil Champion, who has the Fae under his command. I absolutely fell into this beautiful book - it's the perfect book to curl up with on a dreamy, sunny afternoon!

I initially thought Gemma was Quell, because of the whole look-alike thing, but that wasn't the case. I didn't see the point of why the author HAD to make her look like Quell?I don't really like it when the author makes the heroine look like someone from the hero's past. It kinda irks me, to be honest. Like what was the point? Pepper is a Hybrid Author of both Traditional and Self-published work. Her Pure Corruption Series was released by Grand Central, Hachette.

Pepper writes organically, so her characters are not haloed in rainbow and glitter emotions, not cushioned in branded stuff or high end lifestyle with jetset setting. Her characters are stripped down to bare Raw and earthy human sentiments. A simple wish for happiness gets taken for granted by us daily and holds an ocean of pain for Kas. Ongoing Covid restrictions, reduced air and freight capacity, high volumes and winter weather conditions are all impacting transportation and local delivery across the globe. Four years ago, 17-year old, Fable, was abandoned by her Father on Jeval, a notorious island full of thieves. The Romance: This is, to me, perhaps the most surprising part, unexpectedly laying waste to my heart as the line they draw in the sand to stay distant is wiped clean with their growing trust, as he bares himself to her after only allowing her broken pieces of himself, as he softens for her despite being all sharp edges. I think this is less a romance about falling in love and more one of coming to understand the love that had formed between them and futilely attempting to guard against it but failing miserably. Their efforts feel too late, their surrender inevitable in the best way possible. It’s a love that rings desperate, so pent up and intense, so hidden but revealing itself slowly and pleadingly. EMMA NORRY wants all children, but especially those from the care system to ‘feel seen’ with her latest book, Fablehouse. The first book ended up with a cliffhanger and literally Kas fell on a cliff. The second book opened up to Gemma's struggle, despite being assaulted by Kas she still helped him and nurse him to safety. I liked the crew of Marigold consisted of a group of young and lost teens, orphans , outcasts and Fable is strong, lovable heroine!

I didn't like the writing of this book. This was my first by Adrienne Young, but I think I will still give her another chance. Reading Kas and Gem's story is NOT for weak hearted...that's for sure. The angst level is top notch and the dark themes...my God...Author Winters really deserves the Queen of Dark Romance Crown when she let's go...and believe me...in this book...she really did let go of the darkness. The fractured Beauty & the Beast love saga continues, but I wasn’t prepared for the extremes of this emotional rollercoaster. Gem’s caring stirs crippling emotions in unstable Kas, as well as resurfacing horrific memories of his past at Fables. The sadistic depravity and cruelty of it gutted me as much as their conflicted intimacy. There’s more to learn about his “family” of others at the mansion that made him afraid to love and the reason he never left, but she’s more afraid to let go of trying to save him and reach his heart. Gem leans in, but Kas leans away. Despite her attempts to draw him out, he resists for her sake and hides his love to protect her from him in a beautifully twisted way. My heart shredded for them.I enjoyed reading this. It was so sad and heartbreaking. You just want to jump into the book and then jump into the past and save all those kids! The world of Fable is a ruthless one, as divided by privilege as it is by your ability to cut a throat. Surviving has its own strategies, and you either figure them out and cut yourself a place on the seas, or you’re carrion. This is a lesson every character we meet has had to learn one way or another—that there is a certain amount of darkness it takes to live the life of a trader in the Narrows. And Fay, our main character, was forced to confront this at fourteen when her father, Saint, abandoned her on an island of cutthroat dredgers. And as she attempts to reclaim her own place on the waters four years later, she learns the truth of this life of bloody business firsthand. Wrong, heartbreaking, disturbing, unique. These are all adjectives that can sum up the dark and twisted relationship between Kassen and Gemma. If you’ve read book 1 you know it’s anything but conventional and ordinary.Their romance started on the wrong foot and they continue to face so many difficulties in this book as well. However, you can’t help but falling for them as they’re falling for each other. There are moments when it gets too much, too hard for you to continue due to nature of the book but it’s so worth continuing through the darkest and most disturbing scenes to reach the heartbreakingly beautiful parts. It takes having a twisted and open mind to read about Gem and Kas without being judgmental towards them. As usual prose is Laden with sentiments in caps, the book makes you feel ALL the jolts and pitfalls of an unrequited, impossible love which has no visible ending He warns them that danger lurks in a world beneath their feet. Heather, Pal and friends set off to rescue children who have been taken to this threatening underworld.
