Frame Material. Last but not least, the frame material is weird. The texture is like embossed charcoal or a textured chalkboard. It is okay to look at, but I don't like the way it feels. I am assuming "gravel" was meant to describe something, but it certainly didn't look, color, or texture. On the other hand, if you’re aiming for a more compact frame with phenomenal clarity, then going with Mason Luxe is the better idea. Overall, I would highly recommend this as a gift or for personal use. It’s definitely a premium product, but the design is intelligent and worth investing in if you can. set up is very easy, just install the app, pair and go. You can either dump photos directly into the app, or link to google photosThe fixed stand setup means you can’t adjust the display angle from its default upward tilt. While this will be an issue if you want to place the frame on a higher shelf, the viewing angles are otherwise good, with decent saturation and plenty of brightness – provided you’re fine with a reflective panel. So, if you’re planning on purchasing a digital landscape frame, then your best option is to go with Aura Carver Luxe. The only way to load photos to the Aura Carver Luxe digital frame is via the Aura mobile app. Remember that all of Aura’s frames are solely cloud-based. As such, they don’t have access to features like USB/SD card support and internal storage.
If you’re not really planning on using the landscape option, and need a portrait option, then going with Mason Luxe is the only real choice here. The frame itself has an interesting and unique feel to it. Almost like a clay molding where the surface of the frame is mildly rough, like 400 grit sandpaper. Along the edge of the frame there’s a series of groves that add to it’s uniqueness.
One thing to take note is that Landscape pictures display better on this device. If you have two Portrait pictures, then the Digital Photo Frame will show two pictures at once (sometimes not desired, but the device has some smart pairing capability). As a result, let the people now you’d prefer photos in Landscape form. When pitted head-to-head against competing frames like the Pix-Star, Aura’s shortcomings start to show. There is no remote configuration feature. You can’t adjust the frame’s settings, slideshows, storage, etc., remotely – despite the Carver being solely “cloud-based”. the touch bar on top is handy but a touch screen may have been nicer and allowed for more usability. It then takes you to their apps view of your pictures on your phone. You can select one or as many as you want at a time.It sounds easy, but be aware that it might take a little long to connect through Bluetooth as it happened to me (I was about to give up at some point). Fortunately, with a little patience, all was promptly configured. also, its convenient to add members to the frame account so anyone can add pictures from their devices. you don't need one central device. After getting one of these for a grandparent for their birthday, my wife had to have one! This is probably the easiest wifi sharing frame/app that I have had experience with. I have some friends who have different ones and after setting this up, I think this is the most simple and the features are very functional and easy. You want a portrait frame: The Carver is only designed to stand in landscape orientation and the screen image can’t be rotated.
