Feels Like Heaven" is a song by British dance music band Urban Cookie Collective, released on 1 November 1993 as the second single from their debut album, High on a Happy Vibe (1994). As the follow-up to " The Key the Secret", it peaked at number five on the UK Singles Chart, staying in the chart for nine consecutive weeks. The band was founded by Rohan Heath (born 19 July 1964), [1] the son of Guyanese writer Roy Heath. He learned to play classical piano as a child before switching to the electric piano. [1] He had previous experience with groups such as Yargo and Manchester DJ A Guy Called Gerald. [1] Heath decided on a music career after abandoning a PhD at the University of Vermont. [1] After a tour of Japan supporting the Happy Mondays, he left the band A Guy Called Gerald to work with the rave band Together. British DJ Graham Gold named "The Key the Secret" one of his favourites in 1995, saying, "I don't care who dissed it – or if it crossed over into the charts. The vocal was so up and positive it made me feel how music should make you feel – good." [5] In his weekly UK chart commentary, James Masterton viewed it as "a rather weak-kneed piece of girlie dance". [6] David Bennun from Melody Maker complimented it as a "mellifluous delight". [7] Andy Beevers from Music Week rated it three out of five, describing it as a "poppy house tune with catchy female vocals". [8] Upon the release of the 1996 remix, a reviewer of the magazine gave it four out of five, commenting, "A seemingly superfluous reissue remix of the 1993 number two hit. Nevertheless, the song maintains its effervescent hook of housey piano and celebratory vocal, and could well be a hit again."
