About this deal
Salem. She's become selfish in this one. Some of the decisions she made were questionable. Caleb and Thayer both deserve better. I would not even want to be friends with a character like thatđAlso, she's obviously older in this one but she still talks like an 18 year old. Although, this reluctance I feel towards reading Caleb's story (if he ever gets one) stems from the fact that, as much as I dislike a character who is a pushover, someone who settles for being a consolation prize, Caleb's decision to marry Salem and everything else places him in that category in my eyes. But hey, at least he didn't cheat on his deserving girlfriend. My guy then goes on to say, "I'm not bright like you, but I promise, when your days are dark, I'll be your light." đđâ€ïž
Iâm in so much pain rn itâs not even funny that ending made me bawl and scream while walking on the treadmill. Salem married the man she had originally cheated on (in book) ONE YEAR after the final fallout with Thayer Thayer and Salemâs relationship started out as this professional neighbor relationship that grew into friendship and slowly turned into something more. It was unexpected and slow moving but their attraction was explosive and you felt it when they were close to each other. But with an age gap and Thayer being a newly divorced single dad, what does that mean for their future relationship? Will they finally give into Temptation? But as the story goes on, you truly see how strongly Thayer feels for Salem. I loved all the interactions with Thayerâs son, Forrest. He is such a great kid and he would say the sweetest things to Salemđ„ș.The heroine was immature with little to no growth. The endless trauma was added one on top of another so this read like poorly written literary fiction tragedy porn. The pacing was abysmally slow. And there was no layered build up of emotion only the unnecessary and heavy handed use of throwing in every possible tragic scenario to FORCE some kind of emotion out of the reader because the writing alone could not do it. I don't really know what the author was trying to accomplish with this story because literally nothing happened until the last tragic event that caused the third act break up. Weâre smiling. Weâre thriving. Thatâs the true test of a personâ the beauty theyâre able to find in the simple things. In the wildflowers that bloom and blossom freely. In the bees that pollinate our earth. In the sound of the wind rustling the leaves. Those are the things that matter. This. Us.â I shouldâve DNFd this book honestly, because nothing happens in the 70% that follows. Literally nothing. The rest of the book is Thayer and Salem having their HEA. It felt like an unnecessarily long epilogue. The author took so much of Thayer's personality away and reduced it to- "I love Salem." I loved his character in the first book, he was his own man. He was rugged; this one made him soft (not in a good way) and he's total pushover. My guy doesn't even want to express his emotions in fear of losing her. That's not healthy. I really went into this story thinking that it was going to be a nice steamy read with a few hiccups along the way and I have to say that Iâm so glad that I was wrong. This turned out to be so much more and aside from that gut punch that Iâm still feeling and not having this told in dual pov, I enjoyed it. Iâm going to be on pins and needles waiting for the final book because not only do we need answers from that cliffhanger, I need an HEA for my sanity!
The writing is not the bestâŠitâs very jumpy. It getsâ better but there could be improvement. Also, I was scared because I felt like all type of cliches in age gap romance will be thrown here and it has so many tropes that I feel that is hard not to put the traditional cliche of the tropes if that makes sense. That vibe was definitely there. Salem's response to the tragedy at the end of this book was so off. I could not understand her rationale at all. It boggles the mind and that's not even taking into consideration the very last bomb dropped as the cliffhanger. And donât even get me started on the whole secret baby and how both him and his family were like, âoh no worries itâs in the past.â You cannot convince me that Thayer wouldnât haven been a good dad even in the middle of his grief. You really canât. The ending was as if an entirely different book was being written and it had to be crammed into a short story. It was disjointed and messy and given the way the first several hours dragged on in detail and the last hour was rushed made it feel like it was only edited at the end of the story. There were also too many plot lines that never got resolved.

Now, I do mention in my vlog that there is something that happens and is very spoiler-y, but it can also be a huge trigger for people. Therefore, as I mentioned in my vlog, I am leaving a spoiler here for those who have death as a TW:
Who we used to be doesnât matter, itâs who we are now, whatâs in our hearts that matters most. Youâre sunshine, Salem, but even the sun doesnât always shine.â My future is a big âwhat ifâ at the moment and Iâm fine with that. For the most part. When Thayer Holmes moves in next door, the grumpy landscaper both fascinates and amuses me. When he asks me to nanny his kid, itâs a great way to make some extra money. Itâs impossible not to fall in love with Thayer and his adorable son. Thereâs a big problem though. Iâm eighteen. Heâs thirty-one. Falling for someone almost fifteen years older than me wasnât part of my plans, but sometimes things happen when you least expect them. The Confidence of Wildflowers Book PDF Summary Now I'm paying the price of that and the only thing that can make me feel better in this moment is to get me book two right now!!! The Confidence Of Wildflowers is not your typical forbidden steamy romance. This was the story about two people who found the best in each other and decided that they were worth it. Their past didn't matter and in their own way, they helped each other healed. This was a slow burn addictive story that showed you all of the sides to loving and being in love with someone that you didn't see coming. It heartwarming, sweet, sexy, charming and when you least expected it, it tugged on your heartstrings and made you appreciate life even more. the EXACT same thing happened in Malum: Part 1 by amo jones and it made me so angry i couldn't get over it, and then the same thing happened here.
To quote Salem, "Thayer Holmes might not realise how special he is, but I know." And yes that's accurate. One thing to mention, Salem is in a relationship when she meets Thayer so I wasnât a fan of the âlove triangleâ aspect but that is more of a personal choice. It ends on a cliffhanger and the whole event is very traumatic. I still haven't been able to start the sequel. It broke my heart.
Thayer Holmes has branded himself on me. And I know, without a doubt, that whatever this is, whatever we become, if we grow and flourish like the wildflowers behind our houses, or crash and burn, it wonât matter because when Iâm old and gray, lying in bed thinking about my life, heâll be the best part.âI saved so many quotes reading this but here are my faves (donât read them if you havenât read book 1) The way the two loved each other, I had thought Salem would fight more for Thayer (the guy was grieving ffs). But I can't wait to see how they move past with this in the sequel. I am sorry If my review seems a bit odd,but I am just still under the book's influence, even so that I have read it 3 days ago. Honestly, some of my words are failing right now. I will probably add some more to the review, but It will be at a later date. I felt absolutely heartbroken when her mother confesses that she has breast cancer, but I was glad when she survived the chemo and surgery though it seemed unfair for a woman who went through hell to have to go through this too. Btw the pain that I had to endure towards the end of this book was insane. THAT part was so unexpected and took me by complete surprise, I have still not recovered.
