Description

Below the Main Controls heading, observe the current room temperature, Shelly Device battery as a percentage, and light status of the room. If you think your Shelly devices are working correctly and don’t want to change your network/configuration, you can ignore the repair issue. Still, you must know you are giving up the best experience of using first-generation Shelly devices with Home Assistant.

Shelly Motion2 doesn’t have a humidity sensor on board. For that, you will have to get their dedicated Shelly T&H Sensor instead. Apart from bathrooms and perhaps the kitchen, I’d be absolutely ok without that metric. Temperature is most important to me.IMPORTANT! Direct sun light or close heating sources can trigger false motion detection. LED Indication Signals The Shelly Motion’s bulbous sensor has a reasonable appearance, and its LED can be disabled. [ Further reading: A smart home guide for beginners ] Adjustable sensitivity - with 256 levels of sensitivity adjustment based on distance and type of movement to which the sensor reacts If only the device name is set, and the device has multiple channels, the channel number will be appended to the entity name (e.g., Channel 2).

Generation 1 “Shelly 4Pro” and “Shelly Sense” are not supported (devices based on old CoAP v1 protocol)

Smart Scheduling

Not everything is by the book. While the temperature in the device card is updated every couple of minutes, the graph in the app displays the average temperature at hourly intervals. It’s frequent enough to give you a general idea about the environment in your house, but not frequent enough to perform an efficient analysis of your heating system. The default control protocol is Shelly Cloud plus REST API which triggers HTTP tasks. I remember this function on Shelly 1, but now you can make multiple API calls per trigger. It’s a great option to keep the device compatible with Shelly Cloud (and therefore with Alexa and Google Home) and be able to trigger Home Assistant or NodeRED. It means that you could send information about the movement to several devices at once instead of processing it on another server. Other than the micro USB (hey guys what happened to USB-C?) and a reset pin, there are no other ways to interact with the device physically. WiFi protocol enables hub-less operation which is great for anyone just looking for an easy start and the well-developed app and web interface provide an array of interesting options. Shelly Motion – unique PIR

Shelly Motion2 isn’t just about motion. It brings the most important metrics to your automation: motion, light levels, vibration and temperature. One could argue that humidity would be nice, but honestly – I’m excited as is. Sunset / Sunrise: The Shelly device may turn on/off automatically at sunrise/sunset, or at a specified time Before/After Sunrise/Sunset. Select the time in hours and minutes from the dropdown menus. Brightness information is provided in lux units and ranges from 0 to 100000 and provides 3 light levels available as triggers: dark, twilight, and bright. These can be also defined in the sensor’s settings so if you don’t like the specific values for each trigger you can change the ranges. Prior to using the Shelly Motion 2, please fully charge its battery by plugging the USB Type-C charging adapter cable into the Device charging port. ATTENTION! Before beginning the installation, please read carefully and entirely this guide and any other documents accompanying the device. Failure to follow the installation procedures could lead to malfunction, danger to your health and life, violation of the law or refusal of legal and/or commercial guarantee (if any). Shelly Europe Ltd is not responsible for any loss or damage in case of incorrect installation or improper operation of this device due to failure of following the user and safety instructions in this guide. Introduction to Shelly®If Shelly devices are in a different subnet than the Home Assistant server, you should ensure communication on UDP port 5683 between these subnets. As usual, Shelly delivers in that department. I had said that before and say this again. Shelly knows how to combine interfaces for everyone’s satisfaction. Full cloud connectivity is available while using the app, while extra protocols like MQTT, CoAP, and REST are configurable via web GUI for anyone looking to direct the devices via the local network. The integration uses the following strategy to name its entities if the device has more than one relay: Real time response - detects motion in less than 200 ms and immediately triggers action to other devices

Always connected Wi-Fi Motion Sensor with over 1 year battery life. Featuring a 6500 mAh rechargeable battery. Real time motion detection triggers actions to other devices. Features It’s pretty sensitive at low settings, and I could imagine this can be activated by passing lorries outside if your walls are prone to movement like this. With a bit of trial and error, you could use this to create an earthquake alarm, in case you sleep as deep as me. Shelly appDo you remember Shelly? You should, as they have nifty devices for home automation. I was in love with their web GUI on Shelly 1 ( review) and their funky-looking Shelly Eye camera ( review) and now, Shelly is exploring another market: sensors with Shelly Motion. And there are lots to talk about. One battery-operated device delivers all that data that lasts up to a year on a single charge (Li-ion 3.7 V / 6500 mAh). As the device is straight from the production line, I can’t verify the claim, but I had it running for over a week now and it still reports 100%. That’s promising. What’s nice is the included USB-C port for easy charging. What stands out most is the size of the sensor. Shelly’s Motion is big and heavy. It’s nicely designed so it’s not ugly, but it will be instantly visible thanks to its size and (optional) LED embedded inside the PIR shell. The reason why Shelly Motion is so big is the internal battery that lets the PIR sensor connect to the network for a year (or more) on a single charge. Shelly Motion 2 (the Device) is a high-sensitivity, ultra-low power consumption Wi-Fi motion sensor, which also features light and temperature metering. The built-in light and temperature sensors provide additional opportunities for home or office automation. Shelly Motion 2 also has an integrated accelerometer for tamper protection and features vibration detection. The built-in 6500 mAh rechargeable Li-ion battery allows the Device to stay connected to the Internet in standby mode for up to 3 years, and in active transmission (approx. 6 hours/day motion detection) estimated between 12 and 18 months without recharging. Main applications Apart from temperature offsets, settings allow you to set the units, and monitor the threshold to increase or decrease the recording sensitivity. As a brightness sensor
