I don’t have a pair of WH-1000XM5 against which to test the Sennheiser headphones directly, but I do have the WH-1000XM4 – and I’d rate both that pair and Bose’s QuietComfort 45 as better than the Sennheiser for noise cancellation. Call quality is decent, although not up to the WH-1000XM5’s levels. Noises were suppressed well and didn’t impact the clarity of my voice; the person on the other end of the line said traffic comes across as slight rumbles. A very good performance, and the type you’d expect from an over-ear pair at this price.My main reason for getting the Bluetooth headphones is for meetings and phone calls (working from home most of the time) plus the mobility. The integrated mic has a fair recording quality. We used an estimated value for LFE as the processing job is recording LFE at -3dB by default, which isn't reflective of its performance. To account for this, we measured LFE at -6dB, as this is the point in the response that we feel is closest to the true LFE. Even though there isn't much bass in the recording quality, it's not as bad as the graph indicates. We are looking into this issue, though. Your voice sounds fairly clear and easy to understand. Treble - Detailed, well extended, smooth, with a great sense of air, the treble is, simply put, akin to the HD 600! No embellishment, if you have heard the Sennheiser HD 600 you will recognize the Momentum 4 Wireless’ treble. It really is that good and that similar! Vocal sibilance is extremely well controlled being both detailed and smooth. Cymbals are full sounding with incredible decay that has a certain delicacy to it yet still retains a good sense of weight. Horns have bite and zing, but never glare or peakiness. At no time did my ears ever get fatigued, even listening at higher volume. In short, the Momentum 4 Wireless does treble to perfection! Out of all the subtle changes to the Momentum 4 Wireless’s sound, I find the treble to be the most pleasing. We've retested these headphones using firmware 2.13.18. While it didn't change our sound results, new features were added to the companion app, and we have raised App Support from '8.0' to '8.5'. One can now listen to their music while cancelling out noise in complete comfort. They can’t quite match the very best from Sony or Bose, but they aren’t too far off. The adaptive system automatically turns down the noise-cancelling when in quieter places and they handle wind noise very well – something that trips up some competitors.
