Obviously, these two do exactly that, and maybe it’s because I already have a fondness for this trope, but it’s worth every agonizing second. Kai is so freaking charming and dreamy… ugh if I was Isabella I would’ve fallen in love with him instantly!! Like the things he did for her was just… I don’t even know how to describe it!! I‘m literally in love with him! I just loved how Ana Huang also represented him as introverted and closed off! I can very much relate to that. I loved how I could understand so many of his thought processes and feelings and relate to them as well! He‘s honestly one of Ana Huang’s best book bfs! I love Kai Young!! On that note, I’d also be remiss to mention how Ana Huang has dutifully laid the foundation for Dominic and Alessandra’s failing marriage and, subsequently, their book, King of Greed. I haven’t read a ton of second-chance stories, and none where the characters are already married, but I’m certainly ready for plenty of groveling. Alessandra has already endeared herself to me, and I can’t wait for her to reclaim the relationship she once had with her husband. Everyone could see it coming that someone was trying to purposely sabotage Kai to threaten his position except Kai himself.

When she’s not reading or writing, Ana is busy daydreaming and scouring Yelp for her next favorite restaurant. Kai is reserved, a little stoic, and his favorite thing to do is translate books into Latin. He’s one of the billionaire members of Valhalla Club, where Isabella works as a bartender. She’s loud and fun and everything Kai isn’t. Since the moment they've met, there’s been a simmering attraction between them, but they’ve never done anything about it since Isabella can’t risk losing her job.Their romance does have a hint of forbidden-ness to it because of the no-fraternization work policy, but honestly? It’s a pretty easy, breezy, smooth romance. There surprisingly isn’t that much angst or drama – like once these two start hanging out more and unknowingly going on dates together, it’s just so… cute?? Kai and Isabella balance each other perfectly, and Kai is sooo good to Isabella, treating her like a QUEEN. Kai is easily my favorite hero so far in the series – I still love Dante, but Kai just GOT me. I love when there’s a cold hero and the heroine is the only one who warms him and brings him to life.

The story was refreshing with healthy and allurung romance of Kai and Isa without any lies and betrayals. there’s also business drama, family drama, and cameos from some favorite couples and i loved every second.I never really lived before you … And I don’t want to imagine living after you.” I dropped my forehead to hers, my chest aching with need and want and a thousand other emotions only she could make me feel. “Stay with me, love. Please.” Even though she may make an effort to deny it, she is aware that beneath his chilly demeanour lies a guy who has the power to seduce her with his touch. They make a valiant effort not to give in to their embarrassing urges, but in the end, they are unsuccessful. ISABELLA is a QUEEN. She wasn't like Ana's other girl characters, where most of have a good job or are owning luxury houses. She showed the actual struggle of people who're in fields like writing, acting, singing. She expressed herself so well, and she was hilarious, I loved her.
