About this deal

This is the 3rd Bible I’ve brought my son and I’ve noticed a growing fear and misconception of God the Father as a scary entity that will punish you if you do wrong or if you don’t obey his laws you are in danger. Having to add context to these stories that even confuse long standing adult Christians complicates young children’s understanding and opens up greater possibility for incorrect doctrine as parents may struggle to translate to such a young mind. According to Genesis 4, after being exiled from the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve had two sons: Cain and Abel. Cain was the first son, the Bible doesn’t specify how much later that Abel was born. I’ve read a few kids’ Bibles that never mention sin and others shy away from talking about God’s judgement. This is a huge problem!

Quotations from this Bible may be identified in written form with the abbreviation (ICB) in less formal documents, such as bulletins, newsletters, curriculum, media pieces, posters, transparencies, and where space is limited. Quotations of more than one thousand verses must be approved by Thomas Nelson, Inc., in writing in advance of use. The NIrV is not the only good kids Bible translation, but it is a good choice for elementary school students. The NIrV is translated from the original languages of the Bible and it’s easy to read. It has a reading level of grade 3-5, making it perfect for early elementary school students. Another good kids Bible translation is the New King James Version (NKJV), which has a reading level of grade 6-8. Which bible translation is right for my child’s reading level? Two basic premises guided the translation process. The first concern was that the translation be faithful to the manuscripts in the original languages. A team composed of the World Bible Translation Center and twenty-one additional, highly qualified and experienced Bible scholars and translators was assembled. The team included men with translation experience on such accepted versions as the New International Version, the New American Standard Bible and the New King James Version. The most recent scholarship and the best available Hebrew and Greek texts were used, principally the third edition of the United Bible Societies’ Greek text and the latest edition of the Biblia Hebraica, along with the Septuagint. A Clear Translation The ICB might not be the best Bible option for Scripture memory or the Bible they take with them to college, but it makes a GREAT transition Bible through the elementary years. Our Take: It’s a free non-profit app that’s kid safe and helps children to learn God’s Word and begin a lifelong love of reading. Beautiful illustrations come to life on the iPad. Consider it a digital Bible storybook, but don’t forget to make full Bible reading a part of your children’s religious education.

Nurturing Your Child’s Spiritual Growth

This is the classic preschool story Bible. Kids will enjoy reading the story of Noah’s Ark as they see Noah helping the elephant onto the big boat. They will learn about the prophet Jonah as they see him praying inside the fish. And they will follow along with the text of Jesus’ ministry as they see a man in need of healing lowered down through the roof of a house. Parents, teachers, pastors, and children will rediscover these beloved parables and so much more as they read more than 90 stories in The Beginner’s Bible, just like millions of children before. The Beginner’s Bible® brand has been trusted for nearly 30 years, with more than 25 million products sold.

A lot of people recommend this story Bible for younger children, but my kids never appreciated it until they were a little bit older. Personally, I found the JSB to be incredibly impactful reading it as an adult. I recommend the JSB for kids over 6 years old, but I especially recommend it for adults! If you do read this one with younger kids, we have found the DVD set incredibly helpful for bigs AND littles (you can also watch it free as part of your Jelly Telly subscription!!) The International Children’s Bible— For ages 6+

Jacob had thirteen children, twelve sons and one daughter, by four different women. These children are important in biblical history, as the twelve sons of Jacob became the heads of the twelve tribes. The account of the birth of Jacob’s children is found in Genesis 29—30, 35. Dan was born to Jacob by Bilhah, his wife Rachel’s handmaid. It was common practice in that day for a barren wife to give her servant to her husband to bear children in her name.

The International Children’s Bible® is not a storybook or a paraphrased Bible. It is a translation of God’s Word from the original Hebrew and Greek languages. If we aren’t given a full picture of God’s character and if our Bibles don’t talk about sin and we are never confronted with our sin, we will never recognize our need for a Savior! She particularly enjoys the profiles of key people in the Bible and the maps, charts, and diagrams.

Two of my kids were early readers, and two began reading independently a little later. Consider your child’s reading level when choosing a Bible for your kids to read independently. If the reading part is a challenge, it is more likely they will resist reading the Bible. We want to help make their Bible time as accessible and inviting as possible.

Key Selling Points

The Gospel remains central to all these children’s versions. Whether it’s the New Testament’s recounting of Jesus’s life or the Old Testament’s tales of faith and perseverance, the essence remains unchanged. Parents can be assured that, whether their child is reading the NIV, ESV, or any other translation, the core message of God’s love and the teachings of Christ come through clearly. Is the NIrV (New International Readers Version) the best Bible translation for children and young readers? As children get older, they may want to transition to a study bible, which provides in-depth information about the Bible and helps kids learn how to find specific scriptures on their own. My preschoolers have loved this Bible, and the bonus is the audio CDs, so the kids can listen to the story as they read. We love that it emphasizes the Bible as one big story with Jesus at the center, and the stories are told simply enough for preschoolers to understand and remember. Joseph was Jacob’s twelfth child and Rachel’s first, as God opened her womb and enabled her to conceive.
