About this deal

Both telescopes have an aperture of 70mm, and it’s important to note that a higher aperture will provide a better resolution. A few users claim that the tripod is too lightweight to be stable, but others say that it is suitable if you can balance it properly.

Any 1.25" eyepiece supplied with PowerSeeker and AstroMaster telescope kits or any eyepieces with a 34mm outside diameter

You won’t have to compromise on the optical design between the two telescopes, and each will deliver similar capabilities. To get a clear and crisp view of planets and the moon, you’ll need to use the Celestron AstroMaster 70AZ telescope’s achromatic optics with its natural-looking images. The telescope has a focal length of f/13, which is ideal for viewing these celestial bodies.

The diagonal is intended for terrestrial viewing, and it does its job. It lowers the image quality quite a bit for astronomy. This type of optical design is capable of larger apertures, and they’re quite common for many different telescopes.

With it’s 70mm aperture and fully coated glass optics this telescope produces great images and it’s alt-azimuth mount makes it ideal for both star gazing and terrestrial viewing. It’s a value prospect based on what it can deliver given it’s price point. You will get great images of the moon with it’s craters and other planets in out solar system including Jupiter and Saturn. Cons of the Celestron PowerSeeker 70AZ: I am not really a fan of the finder but it serves it’s purpose fairly well. Like all finders, be sure you set it up during the day using a far away object such as the top of a telephone pole, water tower antenna, etc. Once it is adjusted it is acceptable. Of course, no telescope in this price range has a good finder because that would take money away from making the actual telescope better and we do not want that. You can do without a finder, but a terrible quality main telescope will just make the whole thing a waste of money, and the Celestron Powerseeker 70AZ is certainly not a waste. Final thoughts Alongside the focal length, the range of magnification is equally important, as this will play into the limitations of what you’re able to see in outer space. The Celestron Astromaster 70az telescope comes with two eyepieces: a 20mm eyepiece and a 10mm eyepiece. These are Kellner eyepieces, which provide clear and sharp views of celestial objects. The eyepieces provide magnifications of 45x and 90x, respectively. What is the field of view of the Celestron Astromaster 70az telescope?Never use your optic to project an image of the Sun onto any surface. Internal heat build-up can damage the optic and any accessories attached to it.
