About this deal

The merchant players in Port Royal, which won the Austrian Game Designers Competition under the title Händler der Karibik, are trying to earn as much as they can out of the Caribbean Sea, but if they set their goals too high, they might take home nothing for the day. Ein Auftrag geht noch… introduces the new game element “Contracts” as well as a cooperative and a solo variant to play the game. Port Royal + Expansions Set Up The more you push the more options you have to Trade/Hire… Also, the more different colour ships you reveal the more cards you can get… But the downside is the more options your opponents have to Trade/Hire in your turn… HOWEVER, if they do that in your turn they give you money so it’s all good… But you might go bust… Every time a player gains coins, draw the appropriate number of cards from the draw pile and put them face down and with every coin visible into your display without ever looking at the front. For every card, a player owns 1 coin. Additionally, the amount of Swords they give you, must be equal to or higher than the Swords depicted on the Ship. If this is the case you may put the Ship into the discard pile instead of the harbor display - otherwise it cannot be repelled and has to go into the harbor display.

Not surprised by the EPIC exclusivity on PC. Wouldn't be surprised if the wanted to avoid people bashing their game on forums or reviewing it after release. To run these tests, you must have the Windows 10 October 2018 Update and a graphics card with drivers that support Microsoft DirectX Raytracing. Please read the System Requirements section below before buying this upgrade. For the first time in the series, naval battles will be turn-based, with up to 8 ships battling at one time and tactical captain maneuvers that can turn the tide in even the most hopeless of situations for a glorious victory.

About This Game

Port Royal Just One More Contract offers the chance for players to compete for contracts. Added smoothly into the base game, both thematically and mechanically, the contracts add a new dimension to the game. I bought this game and both the currently available expansions at the same time. Then, I immediately mixed them together so they fit in one box. So in this review, I will include all 3. Overall the artwork is fairly thematic and well done, but nothing that really excites me. The card quality also feels good and should hold up well to repeated plays. One thing they got right was the size of the box. It’s almost perfectly sized to fit the cards without a lot of wasted space. It drives me nuts when publishers send out a game in a ridiculously over-sized box (I’m looking at you Splendor). How to Play:

This makes the game a little more engaging but can be a distraction for some. I do enjoy the purity of the base game. But sometimes it is nice to have this added focus and goal. It feels different enough to warrant having this expansion, despite it not being a must use expansion. And it is simple enough to bring in and out of play without adding too much complication of confusion for new players to be interchangeable in this way. You think you know me? When one player has at least twelve influence points — which are on both people and expedition cards — the game is played to the end of the round, giving everyone the same number of turns, then the player with the most influence points wins. Explore the Caribbean sea and towns in the predecessor to the best open-ended buccaneer game of all time! In this one your goal is to become the Governor.

In case of a tie, the player who still has the most coins left is the winner. If the tied players are also tied in coins, they share the win.

Play continues in this manner until one player has reached 12 victory points. At that time each player receives another “current player” turn and the game will end. The winner of the game is the one with the most victory points. GameSpot staff. "Best and Worst of 2003: Best Game No One Played". GameSpot. CNET. Archived from the original on July 18, 2004. Unterwegs is a standalone, stripped-down with new characters that can also serve as an expansion for the base game. If the active player draws two of the same color pirate ship play halts immediately and proceeds to the next player’s turn. In the below example the current player has drawn two yellow ships and must end their turn. Tax Increase, which forces everyone with twelve or more coins to discard half their money, after which the card is discarded.

For your first completed contract in the game, your reward will be in the form of coins from the bank. For your second completed contract, you will get 1 victory point. And if you manage a third, you get a second victory point. You can never complete more than three contracts. So as much as this is a race to get in their first, one player cannot dominate all four available contracts. Once all players have bought or declined, your turn is over, the rest of the cards in the display discarded and the next player takes their turn. The first player to 12 victory points wins. After you’ve chosen a card to buy, each of your opponents will get to buy a card from the left overs.

Some of the persons you hire might have swords, an anchor, a cross, or a cabin. Cards with swords can be used to repel various ships coming into Harbor, while cards with anchors, crosses, or cabins can be traded for valuable expedition cards worth more points. Expedition, which remains above the harbor until a player fulfills it by discarding people who have the items required for the expedition.

It’s an interesting expansion. Often, I judge expansions like this with a simple rule. Would I ever play the game without it now? And with Port Royal Just One More Contract I would. I regularly do play Port Royal without it. It is such a simple and fast game, sometimes that is all I want. But crucially with Port Royal Just One More Contract I feel this game needs to be judged not on its essential status, but more how it changes the game. If an expansion is not considered a must-have every time you play, I believe it needs to change the game to make it feel different enough to warrant a place on my shelf. Ship cards, however, work a little different. There are 5 different ship colors and 10 cards of each color. If you draw 1 ship card, it goes into your display (unless you can repel it with a sailor card you’ve previously bought). If you draw a second ship of the SAME color, you bust out and your turn is over (skip phase 2). In ‘ Port Royale 4’ you will take control of a colony as a young and ambitious governor who is eager to learn what it takes to manage and grow his small settlement into a bustling trader city. The additional content of the Gold Edition was also included in the 1.30 patch for this version of the game, and was the foundation for the international version. Spellings
