But here’s something great – the Naga X is very accurate, even if you crank up the DPI for fast movements. And it works like a charm on my wooden desk without needing a mousepad.

There are no swappable panels, for one, so shifting to a traditional 6-button setup is out of the question. Razer has also changed the finish to a more gritty matte plastic that feels more grainy under the fingers. The rubber grip on the right side of the Pro is now textured plastic and really doesn’t work well to support a mouse of this size, constantly causing my pinky to slip anytime I need to lift it up. That said, this is also a much cheaper mouse and concessions have to be made. Leaving the interchangeable side panels for the higher tier mouse is an acceptable trade-off, but making the Naga X more slippery is not. However, the Corsair Scimitar is only suited for MMO, and that makes it hard to use as a regular everyday mouse. Given the MMO moniker of the mouse, it's best to go to the source. I loaded up World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy XIV to test the mouse out. By default, the 12 thumbpad buttons are all bound to corresponding number keys, with the 10 button being 0, and the 11 and 12 buttons being the minus and equal keys, respectively. This means the default setting has the standard MMO hotbar bound to the thumbpad. Most CAD professionals know how painful long working hours on a computer can be for hands and wrists. The best CAD mouse set up for programs like Solidworks should be a more ergonomic mouse. This best Solidworks mouse is first and foremost a gaming model, but that hasn’t stopped shoppers from successfully using Razer’s Naga X mouse for CAD programs. Razer mice are popular for their features, and this one is no different. You go for a walk in the woods to help your mental and emotional state. Let's just say you get a lot more than you bargained for.

Weighing only 85 grams and upgraded with 2nd-Gen Razer Optical Mouse Switches, the Naga X is the lightest Naga mouse yet. Our Razer Naga X review looks at the newest member of the Naga family and sees if the updates and new features are worth the upgrade. Specifications Finding the right mouse for Solidworks and CAD depends on a few things and a conventional mouse typically just won’t do. The best mice for CAD professionals have a good thumb rest or comfortable design, including function keys, or include as many programmable buttons as the user needs. One downside, though, is the side number buttons. You might accidentally press them with your thumb. It was a quirk I had with the 2014 model too. But here’s the good news – it gets better as you get used to it. Some mice have a separate keypad on the side, which can also be programmed or have programmed choices that reflect those of keyboard hotkeys. This comes in handy for numbers and cuts down on the distance a hand must travel to type in the information in CAD programs. One thing to remember is that the Naga X is missing some features you’ll find in the Pro version. But if you want a lightweight and budget-friendly gaming mouse, the Naga X might be for you. The PixArt PMW3391 sensor is surrounded by brushed aluminum, and the logo is written on the LMB edge.

The shape is perfect for me. I'm about 90% palm grip, 10% finger tip grip with medium-sized hands. My thumb sits mostly on the 5 button with the 1-3 row easily reachable with my thumb's tip. My ring and pinky fingers sit comfortably, and my pinky is able to provide lots of grip without cramping. In general, the grooves of this mouse are very ergonomic and satisfying. If I had paid money for the Logi, I would have been seriously pissed, but wouldn't have hesitated to go ahead and change the switches out (and the encoder if I'm already at it) anyway, as I'm not gonna bother with warranty with this kind of problem; you wait for weeks, and in the best case scenario, they'll put the same in it again. Yup. Buy new, actual quality microswitches like japanese Omron D2F-01F, Kailh GM 8.0 or Kailh GM 4.0 for about 1-2 USD/piece, and solder them in after you desoldered whatever crap Razer put in it on the assembly line. For 5 USD tops, you have a better mouse than it ever was, and it will stay that way for a considerably longer time. Razer brings its classic MMO mouse into 2021, but the competition has changed.

However, there is a common problem with the Corsair, all of the 17 buttons are so close together, and it can be hard to hit the button you desire. I’ve been a big fan of Razer gear for a while now. I started with the 3.5g Naga and later switched to the 2014 Naga. When I got the 2014 model, I had some doubts, but my trusty old 3.5g Naga was starting to wear.

Years ago, I played WoW and decided to get a Redragon M901. It was all I could afford at the time, and I didn't know any better anyway. Now, about the scroll wheel – the Naga X’s scroll feels a bit stiffer than my old Chroma. Maybe it’s because the Chroma has seen more action over the years. The newer mice, while not bad, don’t feel as fancy in terms of build quality. For all that the Naga X gets right, there are some downsides. The biggest thing to be aware of is that this is still very much a mouse targeted at MMO gamers. While you can certainly use the 12 side buttons in other games, they might be a bit over-the-top in most cases. The Naga X is wired-only but honestly doesn’t feel like it. It comes with Razer’s Speedflex cable, which offers next to no resistance and is ultra-flexible. Pair this with the same brand of PTFE mouse feet found on Razer’s highest-end mice and you have the recipe for an MMO mouse that glides like a dream, even on a bare desk.
