There are no known risks, interactions, or complications with monolaurin as a dietary supplement. Tips for taking monolaurin | Tips for taking

As a result, there are no dosage guidelines available, and the limited amount of research does not allow scientists to formulate an appropriate range of doses. At the University of Detroit Department of Chemistry, Dr. Kabara and his undergraduate students began experimenting with the nutritional effects of fatty acids, particularly the 12-carbon chain fatty acid lauric acid, and its monoglyceride – known asMonolaurin. Lauricidin is a naturally occurring lipid (fat) that has been purified from coconut oil. This fatty acid compound, called monolaurin, has a multitude of benefits to the body and immune system. Monolaurin is naturally found in breast milk and may be considered nature’s first antibiotic! The fact that it is found in breast milk speaks volumes to the question of safety.Adults —– Take with or after meals. The mini-pellets can be placed in the mouth and swallowed with water or juice. Do not take with hot liquids. Do not chew or take as a powder. The recommended initial level of Lauricidin® is ~0.75 gram (1/4 blue scoop) or less two or three times daily for a week before increasing the amount.

However, there are various super strains of vancomycin – resistant Enterococcus (VRE) that have developed partial (up to 70%) resistance to monolaurin. Mutated Enterococcus bacteria had learned to tighten their cell walls, making it more difficult for monolaurin to get in [ 35]. Dose according to your response; some will need more and some will need less than the recommendations provided above. The level can be then increased to 1.5 grams (1/2 blue scoop) one, two or three times daily thereafter.

Seleem D, et al. (2016). In vitroevaluation of antifungal activity of monolaurin against Candida albicansbiofilms. DOI: A study from 2007 in the Journal of Dermatology Drugs compared monolaurin to six common types of antibiotics in the treatment of superficial pediatric skin infections. The study found statistically significant broad spectrum antibiotic effects without any of the resistance of common antibiotics. Antifungal effects Zhang, H., Wei, H., Cui, Y., Zhao, G., & Feng, F. If there was a Who’s Who of fatty acid research and Monolaurin experts, Dr. Kabara would be at the top. Dr. Kabara’s pioneering research in the discovery of monolaurin in mother’s milk in the 1960’s is the basis for bringing Lauricidin® to the healthcare community. We now work with a wide spectrum of healthcare professionals across the world. Discovery of Monolaurin Monolaurin has been shown in research to treat infection with C. albicans, while also controlling the pro-inflammatory response of the body to the fungus. Lauric acid’s antibacterial properties make it a beneficial substance for preventing growth of microbes, toxins and carcinogens within foods or household products. This is the reason I’m such a fan of using pure coconut oil for so many uses and treatments, whether applying it your skin and hair, shaving with it or trying coconut oil pulling. Lauricidin® is a concentrated mini-pellet (~30 mg per pellet) of sn1 (3)-monolaurin. The size and shape of the mini pellets can vary.
