About this deal

What: We love Chococo’s handmade chocolates, and the Dorset chocolatiers really outdo themselves at Easter with a huge range of great eggs. This milk chocolate number is made from their signature 47% Colombian milk chocolate, and 5% of every sale goes towards the Ocean Giants conservation programme.

What: Another beloved Swiss chocolatier, Laderach is best known for slabs of nuttyFrischSchoggi, which is also available in bunny shapes this Easter. If you're keeping things a bit more classic, go for this handsome Easter Bunny in Laderach's delicious milk chocolate (but also available in lots of other flavours and combos). What: Happi’s oat milk chocolate is one of the better vegan and free-from options we’ve come across, and they do multiple flavours including salted caramel and chocolate orange. This classic plain milk chocolate option is excellent too, though - so good that you might never return to the real deal. Our Woman&Home food team - consisting of Food Director Jen Bedloe, Food Editor Jess Meyer, Deputy Food Editor Rose Fooks and Junior Food Writer Georgia Sparks - made up the main tasting panel for our big Easter egg taste test 2023. Imagine the look on the kids faces when you present them with their Easter eggs on Easter morning and you have bought them the World's SMALLEST Easter Eggs!! Brilliant! What: A dark chocolate lover's dream, this seriously decadent egg is made from 70% cocoa, and comes filled with high-cacao pralines, caramels, simple truffles and plenty of other chocolatey treats.

Easter eggs are highly symbolic and are known as traditions particularly throughout Eastern Europe, Germany and England. As well as being gifted to children, as decorated (often painted) eggs and today more commonly as chocolate eggs, in the past, Easter eggs were also used as love gifs. Although eggs were not always associated with Christian traditions their evocative containment of a life in making provided for a possible association with Easter and the celebration of Christ’s death and subsequent resurrection (see Newall 1984). What: It’s that smooth, delicious Lindt chocolate you know and love, but with a blood orange twist. This tasty LINDOR variant is new for 2023 and comes with a bunch of those absolutely sensational truffles inside - Easter isn’t complete without a few Lindt truffles is it?

Cadbury Dairy Milk Giant Chocolate Buttons Egg (Box of 12)

In addition to the egg itself, there's an array of lovingly crafted, dessert-inspired chocolates. Jess and Georgia both found it super satisfying to guess the flavours and there’s something there for everyone, from a gently spiced ‘carrot cake’ to a sweet and caramelly treacle tart. These teeny tiny Easter Eggs are great for a prank but I also think they would be super cute for an Easter Egg hunt too! It would take the kids a while to find these ones though! This tiny egg is associated with ideas of origin, birth and life which are revealed by its contents. Figuratively, the closed egg could be said to materialize a secret and the doll to be its revelation (see Stewart 1993). On the Collector What: Percy Pig and Colin the Caterpiller - two iconic treats that are getting an Easter makeover from M&S this year. Treat the chocolate lover in your life to a giant Percy Pig or Colin face - the latter is white chocolate, and Percy is milk chocolate so they cover all bases. What: One of the biggest Easter eggs we’ve ever laid eyes on, this whopper from Kent-based chocolatier Cocoba weighs in at a weighty four kilograms. Gather together a few hungry mates to polish it off.

Buy now: Selfridges Single Original Praline Easter Egg Daylesford Organic Raw Chocolate Hazelnut Truffle Egg What: Irish luxury chocolatiers Butlers are a safe option this Easter - not only are they one of the few remaining family-owned chocolatiers around, but they have a great rep for sustainable sourcing and delicious chocolate. There are lots of different eggs on offer but we’d keep it classic with this smooth milk chocolate number. What: Venchi is the last word in luxury Italian chocolate, so who better to turn to when you want the best of the best? This incredible white chocolate egg is hiding a little surprise inside - a layer of Piedmontese hazelnuts, pistachios and lightly salted almonds. What: Brand new this year, Dorset chocolatiers Chococo have a quality vegan Easter egg on offer too, made using oat milk and 43% Colombia origin chocolate. Chococo eggs are always beautifully finished as well, making this a lovely gift for a vegan pal, if you can manage not to eat it before you give it away.

Mini Eggs Pocket Pack 38.3g

Stewart, S. (1999) On Longing: Narratives of the Miniature, the Gigantic, the Souvenir, the Collection, Duke University Press: London The Yorkshire Tearoom legends Betty’s have pulled out all the stops with this beauty. Made with swiss chocolate and crunchy feuilletine wafers, this elegantly presented milk chocolate egg is a classy upgrade on a classic Easter egg. Traditionally shaped, with a styling gold brush decoration, the addition of crispy wafers adds crunch and a delicious caramelised biscuit flavour to the chocolate. It’s creamy, rich and slightly fruity for a grown-up milk chocolate that will satisfy even the most discerning of judges. What: Daylesford Organic’s gorgeous golden egg is made from sustainably sourced Peruvian cacao, and features a dark chocolate shell stuffed with smooth hazelnut truffle. The egg cup itself is whittled from walnut, so you can keep that for boiled eggs and soldiers in the morning.

Each egg was assessed first and foremost on taste, and while the markers of quality were slightly different for each category of chocolate, we were looking for a balanced sweetness, melt in the mouth, rich flavour and creaminess across all categories. Beyond these foundations, we looked for a good ‘snap’, and for flavoured eggs we considered the quality - did it taste natural or synthetic - and how distinctive the flavour. Bonus marks were awarded for originality. Almost guaranteed to raise an 'Awwww! Cute!' from anyone who sees them! The boxed eggs measure approx 2.5 x 1.5 x 1.5 cm. Buy now: Harvey Nichols Dark Chocolate Praline-Filled 1kg Easter Egg Chococo Giant Half and Half Egg What: It’s a hot cross bun, but not as you know it. Cadbury Mini Creme Egg Bag 78g

What: There are few Easter treats more iconic than the Lindt bunny. But this is no ordinary bunny. This one-kilo gold rabbit is pretty much life-sized and comes in its own box with a strap for carrying, presumably so you carry it with you and eat bits of it throughout the day. Looking for this year's best Easter eggs? You've come to the right place. If you have someone in your life that says Easter eggs are ‘just for kids’, we recommend cutting them out immediately. While it is true that the Easter Bunny rudely only chooses to visit the younger half of the population, grown-ups can still get their chocolate fix by snapping up an Easter egg for themselves.
