About this deal

A taste of freedom But a lady’s reputation is fragile and with jealous eyes on Eliza’s fortune, it will only take one whisper of gossip for her to lose it all…

Beth O'Leary is that rare, one-in-a-million talent who can make you laugh, swoon, cry and ache all in the same book' Emily Henry The supporting characters at Forest Manor Hotel are nothing short of perfection! From Mrs. SB and the unpredictable Mandy (who's like a wild card in the story) to Arjun and the potentially godsend Mr. Townsend (if this book ever gets adapted into a movie, please cast Bill Nighy for this role), not to mention the lively Hedgers family, Barty, and Ollie, they all make you feel like a part of their family. The subplot with Izzy and Lucas searching for the owners of a handful of long-lost wedding rings was a charming arc to follow, leading to some really sweet and tender reveals and some very funny moments that made me laugh-out-loud in classic rom-com style. Beth writes her books in the Hampshire countryside with a very badly behaved Golden Retriever for company. If she's not at her desk, you'll usually find her curled up somewhere with a book, a cup of tea and several woolly jumpers (whatever the weather). I adored The Wake-Up Call. It's got warmth and depth and so much humour. I was swept away - Lucy VinePlayful, warm, uplifting, and so very satisfying. O’Leary has a gift for taking the reader to a place so full of joy, we never want to leave. Just lovely.”―Caroline Hulse, author of All the Fun of the Fair The fact that there was a lot of miscommunication here was vexing to me, as a usual loather of such tropes in my romance reads, but something in the way these characters were written, all complex and very human in their insecurities and past hurts, made reading their story—even with all the miscommunication—a very easy and necessary experience, on my part. An utterly delicious read. Amazing chemistry, characters to fall in love with, and all that Beth O'Leary magic. Irresistible." - Louise O'Neill Izzy and Lucas, will have to co-exist and put their differences aside, sharing all of the responsibilities of the day shift, when staff reductions are made at the struggling Forest Manor Hotel, while “Poor Mandy” will man the night shift on her own.

The Wake-Up Call by Beth O'Leary is a fun read. O'Leary's writing style engaged me throughout the book. My eagerness to read from chapter to chapter was kept alive by clever dialogue and entertaining plot twists. Louis looks at Izzy with blatant appreciation. I feel another stab of that strange, new fear. As they launch into their race, I watch him gaining on her, his form cutting through the water, and then I turn away, heading into the main spa, because what else can I do? In the same way that the bikini wasn’t for me, I don’t get to feel anxious when Izzy’s on a date. That is why I’m here: tidying. It’s nothing to do with the fact that Louis Keele is currently powering up and down the swimming pool, waiting for Izzy to arrive for their ... plans. Their arrangement. Their date?My first O’Leary book and I can certainly understand the appeal. This rom-com was all things sweet and charming, and so wonderfully British. It was very easy to be swept up in the delightfulness of it all. As their bitter rivalry turns into something much more complicated, Izzy and Lucas begin to wonder if there’s more at stake here than the hotel’s future. Can the two of them make it through the season with their hearts intact? A gorgeous read that expertly and deftly takes us away from our everyday lives and plunges us into the fun, heartfelt and engrossing world of Beth O’Leary’s talent. She is a master of her craft.”―Salma El-Wardany, author of These Impossible Things It was immediately clear that these two were hot for each other, but that a past misunderstanding had set them on the wrong course, resulting in a lot of competitive one-upmanship and tons of snarky banter. I really needed a strong romance read and this one was it. O'Leary took her time setting up why Izzy and Lucas did not get along and the slow turn from enemies to lovers was realistic. I loved both characters, and other characters like "Poor Mandy" and Mr. Townsend. The writing really snapped in this one and the humor was great. I felt like I was getting a great romantic comedy movie in book form and I just wanted more. The ending was very sweet and I loved it. I think O'Leary had some misses the past few years so I was hesitant to buy this one, but am glad I did.
