No matter which guitar singles, hums, or P90's, the only adjustment on my pedals is a fast and slight treble and bass adjustment. This little amp pushes some surprising volume, interacts very well pedals, provides inspiration, and playing enjoyment. So I started looking around a few weeks ago to see what was currently available. Much to my dismay there are not a lot if any options available in the way of stripped down transistor amps. Everything seems to be some sort of digital modeling type; I was really beginning to miss my Pathfinder. I have a relatively small space to play - a basement room of about 15x12 with low ceilings. I could't get the tone I wanted out of my tube amp (Fender Hot Rod Deluxe III) without making my ears bleed, and another amp a friend had suggested (Roland Cube 30) was adequate, but certainly not capable of mesmerizing tone (at least, not from the many variations I tried). I called Sweetwater for advice, and they recommended this amp (Orange Crush 35RT).

The only problem i found with the common eq for the clean and dirty channel is that, when you turn up the volume, there is an enormous quantity of low-end frequencies that come out in the dirty one, so in theese cases, in my opinion, you can't use easily both channels without touching the eq. The Orange Crush 35RT builds on the tonal platform of the Crush 20 with the inclusion of lush onboard reverb and an integrated chromatic tuner, both great features to find on a practise amp. Like its more 'stripped down' sibling, the Crush 35RT features footswitchable Clean and Dirty channels plus high gain with a great overdriven and distorted sounds. To top it all off, the Crush 35RT is complete with a fully buffered, ultra transparent effects loop to truly get the most from your pedal setup. With features like these and more than enough bite and attitude for the rehearsal space, this combo goes way beyond the call of a traditional practice amplifier. The cabinet emulation seems to work very well also. This is the first time I have played guitar through headphones without being incredibly annoyed, so that's a bonus.The gain of the dirty channel is very felxible, so the amp can space from a slight crunch type of sound to an heavilly distorted metal-like sound. What makes it so special? Well, it features 35 Watts of power, a custom 10″ Orange speaker, two individual channels, a 3-band EQ, an FX loop and a built-in reverb. As you can imagine, all of these features turn that combo into an absolutely versatile beast! I agree with you about the harsh dirty channel on the Crush 35RT. I am, however, a big fan of the dirty channel on the CR120, so I can't say I dislike all Orange SS. When it comes to pricing, the Crush 35RT isn’t the cheapest amp in the world, but it isn’t overly expensive either. Surely, finding a better combo at this price level won’t be that easy! A few users haven’t been pleased with the overall sound but these are few and far between. Obviously the 35RT isn’t going to compete with the high end tube amps out there, but it isn’t really trying to capture that market. Bear in mind that most owners of this amplifier have been blown away by the quality of sound produced.
